Not throwing shade, just jumping on a trend. 🫶🏻🤩

Everyone has to do what's right for their family, but living in the city has been such a good decision for mine.

We don't have yards, but we have parks.

We don't have to make a plan, we can just walk a block down the street and find a friend to hang with.

We don't have garages, but we have...well, the garage, there's really no substitution and that would be a nice suburban perk, not going to lie. 😂

City living is not for the faint of heart--for all the perks there's also lots of inconveniences...

But my kids can walk to all their friends houses and The Garden ☘️🏀, and museums, and restaurants, and stores. They know the shop owners and the owners know them. There are eyes on them everywhere and they can get away with nothing-like it or not! It's totally different than how I was brought up, but it's such a cool childhood and I'm grateful they get to experience it.

Maybe some day it won't fit our family, but for now, we love calling this place home ♥️💙

☁️ ☁️ THE SIMPSONS ☁️ ☁️

Throwing it back to my childhood--Nico really gets MVP of this Halloween. He wasn't thrilled to dress up like Lisa (though I offered Krusty the Clown) but when he got picked to play the 🎷 in music class, his costume was solidified. (There's also an LVP of the group--I'll let you guess who that was. 🍼👶).

I appreciated that the boys let me dress them up this Halloween-if only for one picture. They quickly changed into cooler costumes: Happy Gilmore 🏒⛳️and a blow up TRex 🦖from last year...and Cecilia who requested to trick or treat as a pink witch decided to wear no costumes at all.

So my blood sweat and tears were literally just for these pictures...and I'm not even mad. I appreciate my family going along with my crazy ideas and letting me hot glue for days. 🍩🍺🛹🎷

I've already got an idea for next year...but I may need to convince the boys friends to join our crew so they wear it all night. 🤪 who's in? 🎃

Put it on my tombstone 🪦: "Here lies Janelle — she never turned in a permission slip on time, but every Halloween costume was made with love." 🧵🪡

This years costume was one of the most fun to make and I even managed to incorporate a donut again 🍩.

Here's a hint: I needed lots of yellow spray paint and a mattress topper. 💛

In a time when our world felt so divided and hopeless, Phila entered our lives and gave us all new perspective and light. ✨

In January, when Nico came home and said he was going to have a new student in his class who had suffered life-threatening burns and had been hospitalized for a number of years, we wondered how Nico would respond. We watched "Wonder" as a family and talked about how people’s exterior are far less important than what’s inside of them. What I soon found out was that Nico and his peers never needed a lesson in acceptance. They welcomed Phila into their class with open arms and without a second of hesitation.

We knew Phila would make an impact on Nico’s school career, but we were unaware what a profound impact he would make on our entire family. Phila has displayed resilience, kindness, and spirit as he entered the Charlestown community and was greeted with the warmest friendship from his classmates. They are bonded together in friendship, have taught me lessons about love, kindness, and restored my faith in the world in a few short months.

At the end June, Phila loses his housing through his medical visa as he seeks asylum in the States while continuing the excellent care he’s received at Shriner’s Hospital.

I believe, undoubtedly, that Phila was brought to Charlestown for a purpose and that this community not only has much to learn from him, but will wrap him and his Auntie up with love and support as they go through the rest of Phila’s treatments and the path to citizenship. If you are able, please consider a donation to Phila and Auntie’s Go-Fund-Me which will go towards his housing in Charlestown as they navigate this process and in the school where he is loved. Even the smallest amount will help help ensure that his path is filled with opportunities, encouragement, and hope.

If you feel compelled and inspired by Phila’s story, please share with your family and friends as social media is one of the most powerful ways to help reach as many caring people as possible. ✨

Some might think you'd put the camera down when a flock of flying birds soars two feet from your bride, but not me! 😂🐦🪶Thank God no one got hurt or pooped on in the making of these images!

I figure I better make my first post of 2025 an intro since it's been forever that I've shown my face on this thing. If you're new, here's a few things you'll want to know...

Hi!
I'm Janelle. A lifestyle and wedding photographer living in Boston, MA.

I am the mom of two of the sweetest boys you'll meet and one super spunky little girl.

I'm originally from Canandaigua, the prettiest Finger Lake in Western NY and no matter how much I love Boston, I'll always wish I lived near my family.

My road to photography was not at all direct. I taught 3rd grade in North Carolina, before getting two masters in administration and literacy from Boston College and Harvard. After working in schools & consulting for a number of years, I took a hard left turn into photography when I became a mom and have been growing my business and my babies simultaneously.

I once tried out for the Patriot Cheerleaders with a gigantic hole in the crotch of my pants that I didn't know about until after leaving the audition. Needless to say, I did not make the team.

I'm a sucker for donuts and every Real Housewives franchise.

I think sandwiches taste better with potato chips in them.

I watch TV while I edit which means I've seen almost everything. If you need a rec, I'm your girl!

I absolutely love my job. And I pinch myself that this is what I get to do.
