….and it’s a wrapp! - the first-ever screening of an African Film Series at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures comes to an end! 🌟
Hello beautiful people! ❤️❤️❤️
Last night marked the 3rd night of introducing Los Angeles to the magic of ‘ECHOES OF AFRICA.’ We made HISTORY - the first-ever screening of an African Film Series at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures! 🌟
The excitement of building an audience for African cinema is palpable, and the Academy shares in that enthusiasm! We must be seen, heard, and continue to shape the global conversation in the world of film, telling our own powerful stories.
Over the past 3 days, we’ve showcased a stellar lineup of films, including ‘The Girl Who Sold the Sun,’ ‘Atlantiques,’ ‘Le Franc,’ ‘Monagambe,’ ‘Sambizanga,’ and last night, the award-winning ‘It’s Not a Burial, It’s a Resurrection!’
My heartfelt thanks to the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures, the NAACP, and the incredible EbonyLife team for their hard work in making this happen.
On a lighter note, I got to sit in the Ted Mann Theater and carry a real live Oscar! It’s no joke - those things are heavy 😃💪🏿😃, but as they say, practice makes perfect! So, I got lots of practice yesterday! 💃🏽😃💃🏽. Remember, ‘if you think it, you can do it.’ 🏆✨
