VFX is so vital on set and you’d never know it was there! When we are shooting and need to preview the VFX in a scene LIVE it’s my job to paste it all together roughly for the Directors, Producers and Actors, pop it up on their monitors, play it in sequence before or after we shoot the scene. Example: “Amber- can we take that out? Can you pop out the background and put the monster in? Can we crop that to fit? Can you mask that out? All of which is done ondemand while we are shooting for a quick preview or “comp” of the final version. I love this part of my job and the artist/illustrator VFX artist in me becomes a real asset to have on any set when these problems come to hand! It can save production hundreds of thousands of dollars being able to do a quick comp to trick a shot!
Found an awesome article where you can see all these digital smoke and mirrors! I love my job and to do it, you really do have to think outside the box! Having an expert QTake Video Engineer on your side makes all the difference!

A couple weeks back Manny and I went to the Warner Brothers Backlot for a private screening of The Color Purple. Such an amazing film to watch and experience. Got to hear the Director speak about conceptualizing and adapting the musical to film. It’s always a unique insightful experience to hear Directors talk about how they craft a film. One thing about working in Hollywood that never gets old and although work has been very slow this year being a part of these private screening does put you on purpose as a filmmaker and reminds you how hard all of us work to create these masterpieces! ❤️🎥🎬❤️

I guess the word is out! 🙏🏻 I'm still in shock that I got picked to write an article in the Hollywood Film Unions I.A.T.S.E. Local 695 Magazine! This was such an honor to grace the cover as "The Queen of Stream" for StarTrek Picard along with Vadym my 695 trainee that I plucked from being a PA in the Covid Dept and he hit the ground running and never looked back! A Hollywood dream come true! We both have such incredible stories. Such an amazing experience working on StarTrek Picard! So much state of the art technology both real and imaginary! I had to share all the techie fun bits it with everyone! I'd never be here with out all my fellow Video Assist Engineers and team on Picard (Lee Hopp, Dempsey Tillman, Jeff Snyder, Larry Razo, Jeb Johenning, Todd Marks, Larry Markart, Ben Betts, Rick Khan, Andrew Miller, Von Varga, Antonio Rodriguez, Rob Campbell, Heather Harris, Terry Matalas and Doug Aarniokoski) who believed in me, helped me, relied on my expertise, and trusted me to do the job- as well as the Producers, Crew and Cast of Picard who made this entire experience out of this world!
