Thank you to Denver Public Art for inviting Manos Sagrados to be a part of the opening celebration of the new pieces at the National Western Complex, showcasing the capabilities of the new, collaborative piece, bringing together the structure, “Rising Together” by Matthew Mazzotta, and the mural work, “Sacred Threads,” by Bimmer Torres. Manos booked live music by Los Mocochetes to celebrate the art and vibrancy of Denver’s Northside, in celebration of this new piece (which is powered and which y’all can book to throw shows, parties, and more, through the National Western Complex).

Manos Sagrados is busy this summer and into autumn, working with partners like Denver Arts & Venues, to bring live entertainment and production across the metro! Do you have an event coming up? Let us help you book the perfect entertainment for it!

JUST ANNOUNCED! For the first time in the US, Gyedu Blay Ambolley will be performing his 1975 debut album in its entirety! Bringing his 8 piece band from Ghana, they will perform the pioneering masterpiece “Simigwa.” Presented by Jazz Is Dead..
Gyedu Blay Ambolley is a musical luminary hailing from Ghana, West Africa, with a staggering 29 albums under his belt. Known affectionately as the “Simigwa Do Man,” Ambolley’s musical journey began in the vibrant port city of Sekondi-Takoradi, in the Western Region of Ghana. His early fascination with music blossomed into a lifelong passion. From mastering his father’s flute at the tender age of eight, to honing his guitar skills under the mentorship of “Uncle Bonku”, Sammy Lartey and Ebo Taylor, Ambolley’s musical odyssey has been nothing short of extraordinary. This all led to Ambolley becoming a musical life force and exploding on the scene in 1973 with a jazzy highlife sound called ‘SIMIGWA-DO’. His name has become synonymous with Simigwa music and dance.

What a magical Denver Fringe we’ve had!

We’ve got one more show tonight (Saturday) with “When I Looked In The Mirror And Saw God Staring Back,” slide 3.

Tomorrow, we’ve got a workshop with The Lovely Lucid Dreamer ahead of his last show (slide 1).

And “Summa Dat BBC” has one more performance, rounding out our weekend.

We have loved all of our guests (and we missed a photo of Colostomy Bag Buddies, but wow - we are still thinking of that one…). Thank you for including us, Denver Fringe!

Next weekend, Barry Osborne releases their new EP, alongside The Xisme and Bad Boy Bug!

Barry Osborne is a singer-songwriter, banjo player, and fabulist who once got a D minus for reading Mad Magazine in middle school English class. Fortunately they made it to college, where their discovery of old-time folk music created the perfect vehicle for their own songs and storytelling. This spring they are releasing their latest EP, A Circle, A Neverending Line. At turns esoteric, silly, and wistful, the Matt Hoffman-produced outing seamlessly blends Barry’s love of folk and indie music in support of his tall tales and hard-fought insights.

We are excited to welcome the duo, The Xisme, as well as Bad Boy Bug, on this bill next Thursday. More at manossagrados.com!
