What a difference! The next time you're at the Capitol, check out the wall repairs! Talk about a big change! The extent of the damage was magnified after we removed the chairs during our recent floor resurfacing project. Two areas were particularly problematic. While exposed brick may look rustic, the structural issues and potential for more damage made a repair project one we couldn't put off. It might take us a little time to repaint the area, but the new smooth surfaces are a big improvement!

On that note, if you'd like to contribute to restoration / repair projects like these, consider participating in our "Light Up the Capitol" campaign (capitolbg.org/light). Every little bit helps!

Meet debut author Tammy Oberhausen Friday, November 15. She will be on stage at The Capitol BG at 6 p.m. in conversation with fellow Kentucky author Silas House to discuss her recently released novel, The Evolution of the Gospelettes.

Born and raised in Russellville, Kentucky, Oberhausen earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in English from Western Kentucky University and her MFA in fiction writing from Spalding University. While working as a book editor and teacher and raising her daughters, she kept coming back to a story about a family of gospel singers that wouldn’t let her go. After three decades of developing her craft and writing and rewriting that story, the Gospelettes finally made their debut last month October. She lives in Bowling Green with her husband.

The current Poet Laureate of Kentucky, Silas House is a New York Times bestselling author of seven novels, including his most recent, Lark Ascending, which was a Booklist Editors’ Choice and is the winner of the 2023 Southern Book Prize and the 2023 Nautilus Book Award. House teaches at Berea College and at the Naslund-Mann Graduate School of Creative Writing.
