Tonight’s the night!

Tonight is the last night of Winterfest for 2025. Help us close it out in style with The Carmonas!
"The Carmonas are a family band built around singers Alison and Aaron and guitarist Chad. There’s a fierce, upbeat feel and buoyant spirit in their songs and the way they play ‘em. Comparisons to Old Crow Medicine Show and The Avett Brothers spring to mind, but the Carmonas clearly have their own vision." - Michael Tearson

The Capitol is excited to announce a free one-time screening of Vera Chytilová’s eccentric, groundbreaking masterpiece Daisies on Friday, March 7 at 7 p.m! Do not miss your chance to catch this essential film on the big screen! Additionally, the first thirty patrons that attend the Daisies screening will receive a free promotional paper doll poster! This screening will be preceded by a free 5 p.m. showing of Amy Heckerling's coming-of-age comedy starring Alicia Silverstone.

Maybe the New Wave’s most anarchic entry, Chytilová’s absurdist farce follows the misadventures of two brash young women. Believing the world to be “spoiled,” they embark on a series of pranks in which nothing—food, clothes, men, war—is taken seriously. Daisies is an aesthetically and politically adventurous film that’s widely considered one of the great works of feminist cinema.

❄️❄️FEB 17 UPDATE: Our area is again under a Winter Storm Watch with snow and frigid temps on the way, even as we still have locations in our community underwater from the weekend's rainfall. Continue to be weather aware and share this info for daytime warming centers with anyone who may need it. We're thankful for the many community partners who make this effort possible.
