How did Spare Kitchen come to be?
🧇The idea for Spare Kitchen came from a small galley on a 28-foot sailboat, where we embraced a minimalist lifestyle and used what we had on hand and what was available in our surroundings to prepare and share meals during our travels.

What makes your biscuits special?
🧇Spare Kitchen’s biscuits are completely made by hand.
No mixer, just a rolling pin.
Buttermilk from our local dairy farm, Dakin Dairy adds a little extra love.

What's your favorite go-to snack or meal at the market?
🧇RiceBallin’ Italian Street Food has the finest arancini and sauces!

What fellow vendor or market aspect inspires you?
🧇Aaron Thomas Collection.
Father/Son team that makes unique artisan glassware.
Their business is creative and straightforward as they produce locally and sell directly.

How long have you been in farmers markets and why do you choose the markets to sell your goods?
🧇We started at the Bradenton market in fall 2021, then expanded to Lakewood Ranch at Waterside Place the following season. We saw a demand for proper biscuits and believed a morning market would be a great fit. Meeting people at the farmers' market also helps us promote and book future catering events as our kitchen grows.

Meet the vendors | 🐶🐾Tail wagging goodness

Hello, I'm James of Treat & Repeat!

How did Treat and Repeat get started?
🔶After college, I trained dogs full-time and needed high-value rewards to achieve the best results. I bought a tabletop dehydrator and started drying thinly sliced meats that I bought from the grocery store, which the dogs went wild for! The success led to (human) clients asking how to buy my treats, and thus, Treat & Repeat was born!

Do you have dogs, what kind, how old, names?
🔶Yes, I have two dogs right now! Clark is a 5-year-old Golden Retriever and Lilly is a 3-year-old Black Lab. They are absolutely best friends who love to play and nap with one another. Together they are the CTOs....or Chief Tasting Officers of Treat & Repeat. Nothing gets put on our menu without their approval first!

What are customers' favorite treats at the market?
🔶The ones that seem to fly off the shelves are our Chicken treats and our Collagen chews. We receive a tremendous amount of positive feedback on how our all-natural chews keep their dogs endlessly busy and mentally enriched!

What's your favorite go-to food/snack at the market? Boba Shark !
🔶I LOVE that new(ish) Pork Belly booth!!! The portions are large, and the food is delicious!

What fellow vendor or market aspect inspires you?
🔶The awesome vendors around the bend that have bagels and breakfast sandwiches. I've noticed that they've created a staple and a must-have in a lot of people's lives, given the line they always have at their booth. That has inspired me to also create a must-have weekly item that customers feel the need to come back for each Sunday!

How long have you been in farmers markets and why do you choose the markets to sell your goods at?
🔶I started selling at Farmers Markets about 2 years ago. It's a great way to connect to our customers (canines and humans) face-to-face, and I've noticed a big driving source of sales comes from handing out free samples and allowing the product to speak for itself. It is also a great way to convert the market customers into recurring online subscribers to our products. We have a lot of northern visitors here and they love that they can still receive Treat & Repeat in the mail no matter where they reside!

Meet the vendor | Maria of Succulantes

Happy Thursday fam! 🍀🎍These offerings will leave your neighbors green with envy for a garden as beautiful as yours!

🪴How did your business get started?

In 2020, the pandemic rocked the foundation of how Anwar and I saw our jobs and time. Anwar and I knew we wanted to start to work on building a business together and to work towards being able to work from home. We decided on Succulantés because we both have a huge passion for plants. Anwar worked in a commercial greenhouse in his younger years and gained a wealth of knowledge from that. I grew up on a farm and my grandmother inspired my green thumb. She taught me everything I know.

🪴What's your favorite plant at home and how many plants do you have?

My favorite plant is my Krimson Queen Hoya, her name is rose. She is always blooming and is huge. Anwar's favorite plant is his Red Valentine Aglaonema, it's name is Cupid. We probably have nearly 2,000 plants in our nursery and about 50 in our personal collection.

🪴What's your favorite go-to snack or meal at the market?
Anwar's favorite is Spare Kitchen
Maria's favorite is The Empanada Girl

🪴What fellow vendor or market aspect inspires you?

We are inspired by The Fouta Spa. We have worked alongside them for years and are inspired by their growth. They are also a husband and wife team and we have used their advice many times to learn how to navigate working with your spouse and drawing on each other's strengths.

🪴How long have you been in farmers markets and why do you choose the markets to sell your goods at?

For four years, we've been part of farmers' markets and love the community of entrepreneurs. They inspire us and build us up during slower seasons. We enjoy seeing your pets, getting plant updates, and becoming friends with our customers. We hope to keep growing with you.
