The birthday cake I baked Bekah Ducharme. I was asked to bring in some flowers for a 70th wedding anniversary on Friday and the idea of decorating a cake with flowers sounded so beautiful. So we did it! All of the flowers are technically edible but I don't know that you would actually want to eat them lol. We used sunflowers, zinnias, fuchsia, perennial phlox, baby roses, begonia, calendula, and borrage.

My fave part of the summer is taking flower walks. I love to walk down the street and through the farm to make a bouquet. This has peony, 2 kinds of campanula, comfrey, dahlias, mint, motherwart, stock, rainbow loveliness, sweet William, popcorn roses, spirea, Alexander loostrife, lupine, and silene. It smells so nice. Let me know if you would like one too! The peony won't last much longer!!

My practice arrangement for testing. One more class and I will have my CFD! It's funny because for years I've been so hesitant to choose a career. I've been a stay at home mum for 9 years and it's really hard to believe it's been 9 years. I've had the joy of watching my boys grow and learn and go to school. Now that Silas is in school full time it's time to go back to work. 2 years ago I started at the greenhouse, that is the most rewarding job I've ever had. Planting seeds, little tiny shriveled things and then watching them grow into these giant plants that feed people and bring people joy is so amazing. When we moved here I was given a garden space to grow whatever I wanted and I chose flowers. We've got vegetable gardens and we've got flower gardens, but I've always loved to pick flowers and make bouquets. So I planted a cut flower garden. The first year was a flop we had so much going on I didn't have the time or the know how to make it flourish. The second year was much better I had more time and more drive. I sold quite a few bouquets. The 3rd year was amazing. I had a beautiful garden and sold a ton of flowers, I met new people and made new connections to lead me here to my 4th year. This year this "Project Flower field" is my career. I still work at the greenhouse, and probably always will. But being a floral designer and working with so many beautiful flowers to make people happy really makes me feel fulfilled.

I started my snapdragons today! I can't wait for spring! These will be ready to go outside 6 weeks before our last frost and I should have blooms for mothers day. I'm not going to hold my breath on that because a lot can happen between now and then but that is my goal!
