We will be hosting a yard sale to benefit the Bradford Public Library on Saturday, May 25 from 8 AM-1 PM. In addition to so many treasures, we will be offering Billy's famous beignets and New Orleans iced coffee (coffee & chicory with sweetened condensed milk).

100% of sales benefit the library! Please no early birds because 8 AM is early enough!

$5/bag (2-3 beignets per bag)

Postcard from Las Vegas

We just got back from a great trip to Las Vegas, where we were entertained at every turn (especially by our new baby nephew that we were visiting). One of the highlights of our trip was a visit to Cardenas Market, where Billy picked up nearly every dried chile he could find, as well as a pint of guacamole which was later confiscated by TSA on our way home. (Yes, we wept.) That aside, we ate well throughout Las Vegas - arepas, tacos, noodles, empanadas - all under clear blue sunny skies. It was amazingly rejuvenating.

Inspired by our time in Las Vegas, we're offering a menu this weekend featuring some of the chiles we purchased, and then other things we think you might want to eat during this chilly time of year. Please order by Friday, March 15, for a pickup of Saturday, March 16. Pickup will be at our house in Bradford, 10 AM-12 PM.

More beignets - and a meet and greet!

We are overjoyed by the response to this week's offering. Thank you so much for your enthusiasm and support. We nearly sold out of everything on Monday! Just one jambalaya and ramen remain available.

We are planning something special for this Saturday. We have added more beignets for pre-order because we're hosting a meet and greet with Ryan Rebozo (https://sites.google.com/view/ryanrebozo/home) , a candidate running for Bradford's selectboard, during our pickup window!

Come meet Ryan (https://sites.google.com/view/ryanrebozo/home) on Saturday at our house at 295 N Main from 10 AM-12 PM. Pre-order your beignets and hang out by the fire in our front yard, where you can ask Ryan why he wants to serve as one of Bradford's elected officials. This will be a great opportunity for Bradford residents to learn more about the candidate ahead of the March 5, 2024 election.

As a reminder, please order by Friday, February 23, for a pickup of Saturday, February 24. Pickup will be at our house in Bradford, 10 AM-12 PM. Look for the Beignets sign by the street. We're doubling our batch of beignet dough so there will probably be plenty for cash sales as well.

Beignets this weekend!

Hello! Have you missed us? We miss you! We are popping in to let you know that we are open for business this coming Saturday, February 24.

It's admittedly a little late to offer you a Mardi Gras menu, but we are past the midpoint of winter, and that is something worth celebrating! We will be offering beignets, jambalaya, and a new dish: vegetarian homemade ramen noodles served with a mushroom miso broth and vegetables.

Please order by Friday, February 23, for a pickup of Saturday, February 24. Pickup will be at our house in Bradford, 10 AM-12 PM.

Thanks for the tremendous response to our Thanksgiving menu! We've got a few orders left and so are extending the ordering window to Sunday, November 19.

We've put together a menu of dishes that we think work nicely anytime, before, during, and/or after your Thanksgiving feast.

Please order by Sunday, November 19, at 8 PM, for a pickup of Wednesday, November 22. Pickup will be at our house in Bradford. Billy's sister will be visiting from New Orleans and she may well be running your food out when you pick up!

Long time, no see!

It's been awhile! We were busy this summer with big and small catering gigs, a super birthday party for Charlie, and family visiting, so we never got around to offering any menus for pickup. Then with a new job, we've been settling into a new rhythm. Now with the chilly weather we are ready to start cooking for you all!

For Thanksgiving, will you have family or friends in town visiting? Are you laying low and taking some well-deserved rest? Whatever the case, why not let us cook for you? We've put together a menu of dishes that we think work nicely anytime, before, during, and/or after your Thanksgiving feast. Folks ask us a lot about the Chicken Étouffée, so we're headlining that, plus a lovely luxe bisque that will go nicely on the Thanksgiving table. And biscuits - because biscuits go with everything.

The routine will be a little different this time. We ask that you order by Saturday, November 18, at 12 PM, for a pickup of Wednesday, November 22. Pickup will be at our house in Bradford. Billy's sister will be visiting from New Orleans and she may well be running your food out when you pick up!

We are cooking Friday with our friends Jesa and Driscoll of San Song Mini! Come enjoy some à la minute dishes we can only do in a restaurant! Come hang at the coolest place in town, Vittles in downtown Bradford!

Imagine...eating some delicious food of the Asian-Cajun-Persuasion with a great beer or two. We had so much food collaborating with San Song Mini a few weeks ago that we are coming back for this Friday's Out in Bradford at Vittles.

Hello! We're cooking this week! Enjoy our menu, inspired by a couple of weeks of spring break. Food for pickup: this Saturday!

This coming Saturday is our final takeout menu for the foreseeable future, so order yourself some of our delicious New Orleans style fried chicken, seasoned with hot sauce and spices. And while you're at it, how about picking up a quart jar of ketchup? Many of you have asked for it, so Billy has canned up our homemade spicy ketchup to keep your refrigerator well stocked.

We'll be back in the summer and who knows, maybe even before with occasional offerings as our schedules allow. Thank you so much for your support this month. Starting off the new year cooking for you all is our pleasure!

Food for pickup this Saturday!

Billy is one of the rare people that seems energized this time of year. He's been cooking a lot and experimenting with a candy recipe, which we might be able to offer our meal subscribers a taste of by the end of the month. As promised, we will offer food for pickup a couple of Saturdays this January. First one: this coming Saturday, January 14!

We'll have boxes of homemade brioche cinnamon buns (a really fantastic breakfast or mid-afternoon treat) and easy-to-reheat dinner options as well. Our friend Jared has been asking for the Chicken Étouffée, so here it is. As for the treat: the picture below of the supremely delicious plated cinnamon bun is not what you'll be getting exactly - yours will be have more frosting and be larger. One of these days we'll get more professional with our food photos. But just to give you an idea...

Happy new year! We hope you and yours had a safe and fun holiday season. Our holiday was very special this year, spent with family, and quite remarkably without any travel snags!

Our meal share begins this Wednesday, January 4. For those of you who have ordered, thank you! We are excited to cook for you. For those of you thinking about ordering, a few shares are still available. We will take orders until midnight tonight. As a reminder, we offer meat and vegetarian meals with two pickup locations: our home in Bradford, VT, and the Lyme Country Store in Lyme, NH. Check out the details on our website.

Popping in to remind folks about our meal shares for January 2023! We have a few meal share subscriptions remaining for Wednesdays in January. Meat and vegetarian meals will be available, with two pickup locations: our home in Bradford, VT, and the Lyme Country Store in Lyme, NH. Check out the details on our website.

We're back in January 2023!

Hello! It's been awhile! We're excited to announce that we will be back in January 2023 selling great food. For one month only, treat yourself to food you can't get anywhere outside of our kitchen. We will offer a Wednesday weekly meal service (1/4, 1/11, 1/18, 1/25) and an à la carte menu on two Saturdays: January 14 and 28. Saturday offerings will be posted the week before. A limited quantity of meal shares are available now -- until we sell out!

It's not too early to start planning your meals for the new year, and a meal share/subscription makes a superb gift. For the Wednesday dinners, meat and vegetarian meals will be available, with two pickup locations: our home in Bradford, VT, and the Lyme Country Store in Lyme, NH.

This January, our meals will include generous portions of a main and a salad in lieu of a dessert. We're trying to cut back on the amount of packaging we use, and hope the portion size will give you leftovers for the next day.

As a reminder, the Square system makes offering multiple pickup locations a challenge. If you purchase a Lyme meal, the system will produce a pickup prompt for Bradford. Please disregard this and trust that a purchase of a Lyme meal will put you on our Lyme list. We will confirm all meals and pickup information with subscribers at the end of December via email.

Happy summer!

Hi folks! Long time no newsletter...well, one way we're welcoming summer is by frying up some chicken again! We'll be off and on for the next couple of months as schedules permit, but are excited to be able to open up this weekend with our signature fried chicken in addition to a salad featuring the garlic scapes, rhubarb, and radishes that are bursting from the garden.

And in case you didn't already know about this, there's going to be some great live music this weekend (https://routefivevt.com/) in Denny Park (in Bradford) and at Chapman's Place in Fairlee. I've been wanting to see Kotoko Brass for awhile and can't believe they'll be within walking distance of our house. Order some food and let us pack your picnic for the shows!

Just a reminder that pickup is on Saturday between 10 AM-12 PM at our house in Bradford. Address provided at checkout. Orders can be placed on our website "Order Online" anytime up until Friday evening. Any questions, let us know!

Muffulettas this weekend!

On the menu this coming Saturday January 15 is our version of a classic New Orleans sandwich: the muffuletta! We will have meat and vegetarian options, both served with a side of homemade potato chips.

Menu for Saturday, January 15, 2022:

Muffuletta Sandwich
Muffuletta Sandwich (vegetarian)

The back story is that this Sicilian-New Orleans sandwich was created at Central Grocery in New Orleans in 1906, and consists of capicola, salami, mortadella, Provolone, and Emmenthal cheese. The jewel of the crown is the olive salad dressing, containing pickled cauliflower, olives, capers, peppers, celery, garlic, and oregano. This is a sandwich made ahead of time (but assembled Saturday morning) so it will be a quick pickup. The vegetarian version will be with fried eggplant, the cheeses, and the olive salad on focaccia.

Happy New Year!

It was great seeing so many of you on Saturday morning! We will be open again for business Saturday January 15 - so look out next Monday for our newsletter with the menu.

In the meantime, we'll be busy cooking up meals for our January meal share subscribers! Tonight is the deadline to sign up for a fully balanced weekly meal that you pick up, reheat, and enjoy. Subscribers will pick up meals on Wednesdays with two pickup locations (Bradford or Lyme). If you're interested in a meal share but have concerns about ingredients, please let us know. We're back! (for one month)

Hey! Remember us?!

We are happy to announce that we will be opening up the proverbial shop for one month only in January 2022. Billy's work schedule is light until the students return for the spring semester, so we would like to offer a Wednesday weekly meal service (subscriptions and à la carte available) and fried chicken on the occasional Saturday.

It's never too early to start planning your meals for the new year. For the Wednesday dinners, meat and vegetarian meals will be available, with two pickup locations: our home in Bradford, VT, and a location that we will confirm soon in Lyme, NH. We will send out comprehensive pickup details.

Here are some sample menus to whet your appetite:

Homemade ricotta cavatelli with either Chorizo sausage (meat) or sautéed escarole and butternut squash (vegetarian version)
blackened beets with pickled onions and kale
flourless chocolate cake

Chicken Étouffée or curried lentil stew
Daikon & carrot salad with miso-tahini vinaigrette
Lemon panna cotta

If you're interested in a subscription but have concerns about ingredients, please let us know. We are happy to answer any questions and make accommodations.

As for fried chicken, we will be slinging boxes out to you on Saturday, January 1, 2022, in Bradford, VT. Other menu items will be available too, but won't be posted for sale until the week before. We'll be sending out a reminder in the December 27, 2021 newsletter.

For now, please sign up for the weekly meals in January 2022. Quantities are limited. We can't wait to serve you some good food!

Menu for Saturday, July 31

The 31st will be our last consecutive Saturday service, so we'll have fried chicken, of course! Work schedules and upcoming family visits are going to keep us busy in August, but if we have time and the inclination we will open up for a Saturday here and there. And maybe again in September. Not sure quite yet, but I'll let you know via this newsletter when we're open. Thanks to all of you who have supported this little takeout business of ours.

We will also be selling food at a couple of upcoming concerts: the Uncommon Jam Music Festival (https://courtstreetarts.org/events/) in Newbury on August 22, and Black Musicians Matter (https://www.facebook.com/events/bradford-vermont/black-musicians-matter/2991925217742520/) in Bradford's Denny Park on Thursday, August 26. So if we don't see you this Saturday, then we hope to see you at one of those events.

Also: can you identify this mystery flower? I guess all I need is an app...or a horticulturist. I bought a little pot of this at the Hunger Mountain Coop last year and all I remember is that it was described as an old-fashioned, somewhat fallen out of favor flower. I thought it was an annual but it came back with great vigor this year. Seems to commingle well with squash and is a nice upright plant, despite the deluge. What is it?!

This past weekend we got our vegetable patch into shape, weeding, mulching, harvesting arugula for pesto, and planting seeds for fall greens. We are not very good vegetable gardeners, which is why we so appreciate our local farms, but we'll probably have a decent harvest of chiles and squash this year. The arugula pesto may dress the Super Salad on the menu this coming weekend. Also on offer: a beef short rib étouffée, split pea soup *by special request,* and fried chicken!
