Musical Monday 🎶

This fall, every Monday, we will feature one of our members’ favorite pieces of music.

This week, we are featuring Steve Reich’s “Electric Counterpoint.”

Double Bass player Gunnar Kuehl submitted this piece and says, “This is a contemporary piece in a style called 'minimalism.’ It is a solo that utilizes layered or looped electric guitar and bass guitar to create a hypnotic texture with interlocking pulses and rhythms. It has been famously performed by jazz legend Wes Montgomery as well as by Jonny Greenwood from the band Radiohead, each with their own distinctive approach and sound. All three movements are quite beautiful, but I particularly enjoy the "dance" that builds throughout the third movement. Reich is brilliant at creating mesmerizing textures without overwhelming the listener, and I love how this piece reflects a convergence of classical, jazz, and rock influences . . . much like myself!”

We hope you were able to join us last weekend for “Opening Nights.” Stay tuned for information about our December concerts!

When the theater goes dark, one light remains: the ghost light.

For centuries, theaters have left a single light burning on the darkened stage. Some say it’s for safety—to prevent accidents in the dark. Others believe it’s to keep company with the spirits who linger after the final bow.

Next weekend, experience that haunting glow in GHOST LIGHT CABARET, featuring Broadway soprano Andrea Ross and pianist Scott Lykins. Together, they bring to life unforgettable songs from Phantom of the Opera, Wicked, Hadestown, and more.

Upcoming Shows:
