Our farm is deeply committed to ecological, regenerative, organic farming. Our fields are mowed in a time sensitive manner, once, sometimes twice a year, allowing grassland birds to nest and fledge their young. We use organic manure when needed from the organic beef farm that hays our fields. We honor our wetlands and celebrate them, leaving them alone to do their critical job. We are working wit

h Federal and State Wildlife Divisions to enhance our property, making it a safe haven for the wildlife and supporting ecosystems. We are careful to keep our property as quiet and safe as possible year round for the furtherance of this goal. If our ethos appeals to you, then please do, come and rest for awhile in the peace and beauty that is The Swallows Nest on the DesMarais Farm in beautiful Vermont.

We are very happy to announce, The Swallow's Nest Guest House is REOPENING March 1st 2022!

We are accepting bookings at the following link: https://abnb.me/mr67xhwUfsb

After a three year hiatus, we are happy to reopen our lovely guest house, The Swallow’s Nest. The ‘Nest’ is located on a private gravel road and is a part of our 1840s farmstead. The setting is bucolic. We grow flowers, organic hay, herbs and produce honey. We are actively conserving this gorgeous farm and providing sanctuary for wildlife. Brandon is a lovely, largely intact 1840s village, with lots of artists, great places to eat, and award winning beer, Red Clover and Foley Brothers.

The space:
The Nest is a stand alone house near the main house. You walk into the living room with the bath and laundry straight ahead. The kitchen is around the corner past the living room. It’s a full-size equipped kitchen. There’s a stone patio with grill and tables out to the back. Upstairs is the loft with two twin beds and the queen sized bed in the bedroom beyond the loft.

Guest access:
Brandon has done much since we moved here in 2014 to improve its streets, sidewalks and amenities. We recommend driving into town, parking on lovely pearl or Park street then walking downtown, a five minute walk. Explore the shops art galleries and eateries. Enjoy the 19th century architecture and layout on the Neshobe River. Picnic by the waterfalls.

We also are a proud wedding venue!

Our Story

Situated on 1,200 acres, our lovely guest house is the perfect place for a weekend getaway, or extended vacation. ‘The Nest’ is surrounded by 50 acres of meadows and offers exceptional views of the Green Mountains and Vermont countryside. Being only 1.5 miles from the village center allows easy access to Brandon’s many shops, restaurants and galleries. ‘The Nest’ is also only 15 miles from Middlebury or Rutland and approximately 25 miles from Killington, Pico and Middlebury College Snow Bowl. It is the ideal home base for any getaway, whether it be skiing, ‘leaf-peeping’, hiking, or simply enjoying the natural beauty of Vermont.
