Can’t decide if you should go with low centerpieces or tall ones? Why not both? ✌️ This option is perfect for venues with high ceilings and I love it most when there’s lots of light! 🌅

This couple right here made MY wedding dreams come true this year. Whitney and Matt came to Maple + Mum with some initial ideas and inspiration but were looking for guidance and collaboration from their vendors to craft an unforgettable New England autumn wedding.
My favorite element from their October wedding was this grounded floral arch. I’m officially obsessed and I’ll tell you why!
1. We make the arbor framework ahead of time and therefore require less day-of installation time. Every venue is different and some only allow a short window of time for vendor setup.
2. More and more wedding ceremonies are held outdoors and the weather is unpredictable. That reads, wind is not my friend! Grounded arches can be secured much better than top heavy arbors and flower towers and we can pivot from outside to inside if necessary.
3. This design is the perfect way to repurpose ceremony flowers in the reception space. For this one here, the pieces were moved inside around the welcome and placecard signs, the sweetheart table and the bar.

Wrapping up our highlight of Jenna + Sam’s early spring wedding with their ceremony decor. We are most often asked for asymmetrical floral accents on ceremony structures, but when Sam was sure he wanted the flowers across the entire top of their chuppah we WENT FOR IT and I’m so glad we did! 💗💗💗

Another bonus of a first look and taking portraits before your ceremony is having the time to walk together through your reception space before everyone arrives. You have the chance to really soak it all in. I mean, you’ve spent all these months, sometimes years, planning for this moment! And when the room looks this good from every angle you really need to see it up close!

We just wrapped up our last wedding of the season. Kind of can’t believe it came and went just like that!🫰
I’m spending this rainy Monday on the couch curled up with the dog and lots of coffee looking back at all the beautiful couples, sweet moments and oh so many flowers!
I look forward to sharing glimpses of all it. More of Jenna and her lovely bridesmaids at Essex Steam Train & The Lace Factory in our stories!

It’s Maple + Mum season! 🍁🌸🙌🏼
We are Nancy + Kate, mother-daughter Connecticut shoreline wedding florist team. Here’s what we love most about the fall, other than pumpkin spice. 😉

🍂 Autumn color palettes
Seasonally inspired wedding flowers are most popular when the leaves start to change and the flower hues get deeper, richer, more moody. From subtle pops of rusty brown to vivid jewel tones we are here for it!
👩‍🍳 Baking
September and October are always our busiest months of the year and after cranking out weddings since the spring we are ready for a rest. While I can’t take that long winter’s nap just yet, I can squeeze in some time to bake a cake or banana bread. Just the right amount of comfort to keep me going.
🌽 Corn mazes
My family plays a hide and seek game like Marco Polo that I look forward to every year. The parents yell “peanut butter” and the kids shout back “jelly” until we find each other.
🔥 Backyard bonfires
Always with toasted marshmallows! During the pandemic we got to know our neighbors as we gathered around fire pits each week. There are not many things that I’ll remember fondly about quarantining but making new friends and traditions in our community has been a gift.
👻 Halloween parties
Trick or treating may be just for kids but a dress up party is a blast at any age! The best costumes are not in the Halloween section at Target. They must involve thrifted items and a glue gun!

So here’s what happens when I hear from a new client that they want to have something different than what they’ve seen at every.other.wedding. I do a little happy dance 💃 and start dreaming about how we can infuse glorious, colorful, local flowers into their wedding day.
Put down the Pinterest board. Go to the farmers market, take a trip to the garden center or better yet, a botanical garden and find the flowers that speak to you! Bring a picture of a single flower that brought you joy to your florist and ask her to build your whole bouquet around that. You won’t be sorry. Promise.
