We’re excited to see pearls picking up as a design choice this year, and Alayna is a perfect example of this trend in action. We love how the touch of beading at the bodice is set off by the wrapped organza. The boning showing through the sheer fabric of the top only adds to the airiness of this design, while the thigh-high slit makes this our top choice for a beach wedding.

Trend 4: Do both—separate looks for the wedding and reception

Weddings are a lot of work. You should be able to have your cake and eat it, too. This year’s trends seem to agree: we’re seeing a lot more options for the dress after the dress, so you can cut loose at the reception while still feeling bridal. Two dresses? Why not. You make your own rules.

These reception dresses tend to be shorter and lighter, easier to move around in and—if you’re up for it—show a little more skin. They also reflect a lot of the same bridal trends we’ve been seeing in their full-length sisters. Take Reese, for example. The jacquard fabric gives it a clean, elegant look from a distance, but shows off its subtle floral details up close. Vertical seams stand out against the fabric, and paired with pleats and a basque waist give the impression of a corset—while still giving you plenty of room to move.

Trend 3: High necklines and modest styles

Bishop sleeves aren’t the only sleeve trend we’ve noticed. In fact, we’ve noticed more sleeves on dresses across the board, as well as higher necklines, too. This year’s dresses offer plenty of options for brides who prefer to cover up a little more, whether that’s for a chilly fall or winter wedding, for cultural or comfort reasons, or even just because it’s a look that speaks to you.

One dress that definitely speaks to us is Provence. The sparkle tulle skirt is a frothy dream, balanced by the sleek and fitted bodice that’s neck-to-wrist lace. The bold floral lace appliqués that cover Provence fit with other bridal trends we’ve seen this year, too, adding texture and depth that contrast with the simplicity of the skirt.

Trend 2: Bishop sleeves

Have you, like Anne Shirley of Green Gables, always dreamed of puffed sleeves? You’re in luck this year! We’ve spied bishop sleeves in several 2024 collections so far, and we love their flowy, romantic look. And if you’d like to channel some fashion-forward Bridgerton vibes on your special day, look no further—bishop sleeves started gaining popularity in the 19th century, so you’re right on time.

Floaty, flowy Phoebe is the perfect showcase for this kind of good old-fashioned romance. The floral print—flowers are another thing we’ve seen quite a bit of this year!—is cozy and sweet, and the layers of light organza give her an ethereal look that the translucent bishop sleeves take to the next level. And if you get too warm in the sleeves—like, say, dancing at the reception—they’re detachable.

Trend 1: Clean and simple

Sometimes, it can be refreshing to go back to fundamentals. Lots of the dresses we’ve seen so far this year are simple and striking, accentuating silky-smooth fabric with clean lines and subtle detailing. Against such a pristine background, little touches like creative seaming or a tiny row of beads make a big impact.

One of our favorites in this style is Philippa. The dramatic illusion plunge and vertical seams add shape to the sweep of crepe, and are mirrored on the back of the dress in the corset-style boning and long train of decorative buttons. It’s an elegant, timeless look that, paired with an updo and maybe some long gloves, is giving Old Hollywood.

If there’s anything I’ve noticed about bridal fashion from over a decade of owning a boutique, it’s that trends move quickly! Each year my team and I attend industry bridal shows to shop the latest collections, and we’re always keeping our eye out for what’s new. So far, we’ve been to events in Charleston and Chicago, and we’ve been taking notes on all the latest fashion trends in the world of wedding dresses.

Below, I’ve picked out a few dresses that my team and I think are perfect examples of some of this year’s bridal fashion trends—but they’re far from the only ones that are on their way to us from designers.

We recognized several years ago that the lack of plus-sized sample gowns was under-serving the brides in our community. Of course, sample sizes never fit anyone perfectly, which is why we use clips and extenders to help brides get a sense for how the gown will look. But these can only go so far, and for brides who have specific concerns about how a style will look on them, there’s not much they can learn from holding a dress up in front of a mirror.

Accordingly, we’ve expanded our selection of plus-sized wedding dresses to encompass a broad range of fabrics, silhouettes, styles, and trends. Whether you want to try a lacy boho look, long sleeves, or a glamorous style with lots of bling, we’ve got your back.

Many plus-sized brides have specific desires when it comes to the structure and design of their gowns and Essense of Australia adds all of that to their plus-size dresses. So as opposed to just scaling up by a few inches as you go up the size chart, they specifically look at what is needed to support and enhance a figure, size by size – by adding more boning, changing the cup, modifying lace placement – all while making sure the dress looks exactly the same, regardless of size.

For instance, if you have a larger bust, you’ll want to be sure the dress can provide the right support without uncomfortable digging or poking. Long sleeves have been a major trend for the past few years, but they can also be hot and restricting—which is why newer styles have focused more on looser sleeves or off-the-shoulder looks.

Overall, the difference is one of mindset. Rather than start from assumptions that rule out certain styles, these gowns assume that making a particular style or trend work is the job of the designer. Brides shouldn’t have to change their vision to meet the limitations of their gown selection. Ultimately, that’s what EveryBody/EveryBride is about.

Have the words “trunk show” sparked your curiosity? Allow us to explain!

A trunk show is like having greater access to a designer’s new collection. They bring dresses that are so new, we haven’t received them as a shop… and sometimes they bring in dresses that we did not pick up for the TWD collection, which is all great news to our brides who will get to shop the selection during the trunk show. We love the energy in our store on trunk show days, and the general excitement that comes from bride’s saying yes to dresses—all at a great prices. If you’ve never been to one, it’s certainly worth making a priority!
