This is why I’ve done documentary family photography for so many years, and why it’s now the only type of photography I offer (generally speaking). The natural, unprompted us is what tells our story. The unique expressions on our spouse’s face, the smoothie beard on our toddler, the way our kids lay upside down on the couch to watch TV. It’s all bits and pieces of the bigger story on the inside, which we can’t truly capture when we’re trying to look perfect on the outside.

To all my clients and friends,

Some of you who are friends with me on FB already know this news, but I realized that this is usually the time of year I start planning for Spring minis and Motherhood sessions, so it’s time share here that, this year, things might look a little different.

On January 11th, I was diagnosed with Stage IV Colon Cancer. I am currently in treatment, undergoing chemo every other week. As you might imagine, this greatly affects my ability to continue my photography as usual. For the foreseeable future, I am unable to take on sessions, which is honestly heartbreaking because I think we all know how much I love documenting your families.

*That said*, there is a chance I will get a 4 week break from chemo starting in mid April. This may be my only opportunity to hold either mini sessions or schedule a couple family sessions until the end of summer/Fall. So, if I am able to make this work, and you’re interested in Spring photos, keep an eye out for an announcement in the next couple weeks. Once I know more, you’ll know more.
