Today was a very emotional service for Clopton United Methodist Church as we welcomed our new pastor, Rev. Larry Chitwood and his lovely wife, Lisa. We also bid farewell to our Youth Pastor, Matthew Nelson and his sweet wife, Lauren, and their four children. I think the attached photo’s that Lesley Williams and I took speak volumes of our small loving country church.

We are at cancer clinic in Brighton getting Charlie’s infusions. He has really been feeling bad this last week.

Please be in prayer for our dear sister, Joann Hubbard, who is in the hospital in Jackson. They are going to remove some liquid from her lungs to help her breathe easier!

Another week has been consumed by the hands on the clock going round and round, minute by minute. It has been a good week in reference to my search for a new norm and balance. The heat and humidity has been an issue as it really saps me when out in it, but otherwise very positive.

Therefore I have tried to alter my schedule of being out to early morning and early evening ... while avoiding the middle of the day. It is a bit awkward but certainly manageable.

The week has brought the joy of grands and their parents visiting and the somberness of breaking down my office at the church. It has also brought the news of several who have been in the hospital are now home ... the turning over the role of pastor to the new shepherd of Clopton ... Larry Chitwood. I have known Larry for several years and know that he will serve the church well. I certainly will be supporting him with my prayers and counsel ...

My health and recovery continue in positive ways for which I am grateful. I am approaching some additional tests and doctor's appointments in July. We are also excited that Ina, an adopted granddaughter from Germany arrives next week for a two week visit.

Just got a wonderful call from Frank Foshee that Nancy is home. She is worn out and resting, but better. Told him he needed to rest also! Please continue to pray for both of them!

Happy to announce Anna Clifton is home from the hospital and improving daily! She wanted to share this message with all of you:

I would like to thank everyone for their prayers, their visits their cards and flowers that were sent while I was in the hospital they are very much appreciated. The first time I met brother Larry. He said you sure have a lot of people praying for you and I know that is true because I felt each one. I’d like to thank my sister who did all my worrying for me because I really was not worried about the outcome. I’d like to thank my nieces who were there to help wherever needed and friends who are like family that took shifts to help me through the nights. I love everybody and hope to be back to church soon.
