News from our pastor, Ken and wife, Martha:

Another two days of holding steady. Not much appetite as my activity level is minimal, Martha is wrapping gifts for grandkids and kids. Making a grocery list … she and one daughter will go to the grocery tomorrow and someone of the family will stay with me.

Listening to Christmas music, reading or watching some tv has become the foci of my day. Oh, I do cat-nap because of my low energy.

Thanks everyone for all your thoughts and prayers.

Today our Youth Pastor, Matthew Nelson, provided a wonderful service in the absence of our pastor, Dr. Ken Uselton. We are praying for our pastor
and his beloved wife, Martha. REST is what they need most!

Yesterday was a long, stressful, scary day … it was also informative and hopeful. We met with some of our medical team and though my lead doc was at a conference he called in.

My health issues are very serious. I will be going to Vanderbilt Medical Center for surgery though a date has not been determined. The doctor there has accepted my case and is world renown in this type of surgery. All my files are being sent to him to review, to be followed by a tella-conference. I should then receive a date for the surgery.

Until then I will be sent home with major restrictions:

*Absolute house arrest
*No visitors due to my
risk of becoming ill and
cancellation of the
surgery
*All responsibilities and
activities are to be
stopped
*Minimize stress
*Alterations to diet
*No driving
*Others … but this is
Enough!

I do covet your prayers and believe we will get through this one day at a time.

Please be in prayer for Pat Forbess for a procedure she is having Friday and is supposed to give her immediate relief from pain. She has suffered so long with this pain!

Just received this from Martha and Ken:

Hello,

This is not the way I would prefer to spend Advent and Christmas seasons … we have learned to play the cards we are dealt. At this time I do not know all the cards or if there are more to come.

The medical team feels they have me stable for the moment and are looking at our next steps which will include a few days of total rest to move past the trauma of the last few days. Then the medical team will assess their findings from test, blood work, etc and then meet with the family to offer a game plan toward healing.

No driving, complete rest, management of activity, possibly to Vanderbilt for surgery and … we appreciate your prayers and prayers for a meaningful holiday season.

We continue to chase down Ken’s issues, then the doctors will determine a game plan … which might include a transfer to Vanderbilt. For now they are allowing family only to visit, minimal to no stress and a parade of doctors and specialists.

As many of you have already seen we were able to be back on live this morning thanks to our tech man being so prompt! Special thanks to Matt Nelson, our youth director, Stewart Williams, and JR Clark for filling in for our pastor, Ken, who is currently hospitalized. In additions, prayers for Ken and Martha Uselton, Joann Hubbard, Nancy Foshee, Lisa Harper, Pat Forbess, and Roger Jenkins. Our hearts go out to the family in Brighton who recently lost their home to fire. Special thanks to Babs Maness on the beautiful crosses she embroidered on the neckerchiefs the choir wore today! Last but not least, a very special THANK YOU to our music director, Cathy Elam, for the wonderful job she and the choir did on the Christmas Cantata! Here are some photo’s for you to enjoy.

Today was a busy day at our church! Tom Warrick Sr. celebrated his 90th birthday. He is so special to our faith family!
