Border Bash Border Bash is a free summer concert series held annually on State Street in Historic Downtown Bristol, TN/VA--The Birthplace of Country Music!

Border Bash is hosted annually by Believe in Bristol and the Cities of Bristol, TN/VA. The roving mini-fest is held twice-monthly, May through August, along the stateline in the Birthplace of Country Music’s historic Downtown Bristol, TN/VA. The free concert series has grown to include children’s activities and vendors, and much more. Border Bash takes place on the first and third Fridays, May through August.

Believe in Bristol really packed Border Bash's 25th anniversary with talent and tunes! For the next opener of Border Bash 2025, we are happy to introduce to you... The Craig Street Ramblers!

The Craig Street Ramblers are a dynamic Americana band from Norton, Virginia, known for blending country, blues, and southern gospel with deep Appalachian roots. Founded in 2010 by Jacob Fields and Joshua Wingate, the band draws inspiration from their early musical experiences in church and the cultural heritage of the coalfields.

Their heartfelt sound has led to collaborations with artists like Dave Eggar, Amber Rubarth, and Max ZT. With standout singles like "Waiting," "Count On Me," and "Soul Shine," the Ramblers bring a powerful mix of tradition and originality to every performance, capturing the true spirit of the mountains.

Believe in Bristol presents our second headliner of Border Bash 2025… Cruz Contreras & The Black Lillies!!

Cruz Contreras is a powerhouse Americana artist with nearly 30 years in the game. From early days with Robinella and the Cstringband to leading the chart-topping Black Lillies, he’s graced stages like the Grand Ole Opry and Conan, with praise from Rolling Stone and NPR. Now fronting Cruz Contreras and The Black Lillies, he’s touring in support of his debut solo album Cosmico, blending soulful storytelling with a rich, rootsy sound.

We’re thrilled to kick off Believe in Bristol's 25th Anniversary of Border Bash with our first opener… Jamie Collins Music!

Jamie Collins is a Bristol, TN native and award-winning musician known for her soulful Appalachian sound. Raised in a musical family and inspired by her father, flatpicking legend Tony Collins, Jamie shines on guitar, fiddle, and bass. She’s toured nationally and internationally, released her solo album Enjoy Life in 2022, and plays with The Blue Ridge Girls, Bristol Lightning, and more. When she’s not on stage, she’s teaching the next generation at places like Handmade Music School.

Are you ready for the FIRST Border Bash of our 25th Anniversary season?! We are! So, let us introduce our first headliner of Border Bash 2025… The Local Honeys!

The Local Honeys are a Kentucky-based roots duo made up of Montana Hobbs and Linda Jean Stokley. Known for their heartfelt storytelling and Appalachian sound, they blend traditional mountain music with gritty banjo, overdriven guitar, and raw, emotional lyricism. Praised by Tom T. Hall and The New York Times, and having toured with artists like Tyler Childers and Colter Wall, they’ve become defining voices of modern Kentucky music. Their self-titled debut on La Honda Records, produced by Jesse Wells and featuring members of The Food Stamps, explores themes of addiction, family, and rural life with songs like “If I Could Quit” and “The Ballad of Frank and Billy Buck.” The album captures the enduring spirit of Appalachia with authenticity and pride.

This summer we are celebrating 25 years of Border Bash with music, community, and a whole lot of heart! If it’s your first time joining us, here’s what to know:

Photo 1 — Yes, it really has been 25 years (we can hardly believe it either)!
Photo 2 — It’s totally free! Just bring yourself, maybe some friends, and enjoy the night!
Photo 3 — We love to see the crowd up and dancing, but we know everyone needs to rest here and there. So, be sure to BYOC (bring your own chair!) as none will be provided near the stage.
Photo 4 — This is a family friendly series and we love to see music lovers of all ages! We need your help to create a fun and welcoming environment for all.
Photo 5 — Know your timeline! Vendors and kids' activities kick off at 6pm, our opener takes the stage at 6:30pm, and our headliner brings us home from 7:30pm to approximately 9pm.
Photo 6 — We pack the stage with local and regional talent, so you might just stumble on your next favorite artist. Look our artists up in advance so you're ready to sing along or come with an open mind and be surprised by the talent you find!
Photo 7 — There is a beer garden! But please note that this is NOT a BYOB situation, our beer garden serves as a fundraiser for Believe in Bristol so that we can continue these Free events. So come thirsty with your ID at the ready (no matter how long you have been over 21) and our volunteers will take great care of you!
Photo 8 — Most importantly, Border Bash is about music and FUN! We can't wait to celebrate 25 years with all of you!!

Our friends at ReString Appalachia were featured on CBS Mornings. We’re so proud of the work they are doing to lift others through the power of music. We can’t wait to work with them again to help out our local communities and friends in the music communities. Keep being the good, friends!

Last week Believe in Bristol kicked off the 25th Anniversary of Border Bash with our lineup announcement. We wanted to take a minute to shout out a big THANK YOU to the “Border Bash Band” that performed as we shared the awesome news! Members of the band, all of which have performed at Border Bash, were:

🎶 Randi Lynn Denton (Vocals) - She’s booked for this year’s Bash on August 8th! She’s great!

🎶 Anthony Childress (Vocals/Guitar)- You can find him every Monday evening at The Cascade Draft House!

🎶 Jon McGlocklin (Vocals) - Founding member of Virginia Ground! Fun Fact: Jon performed with Virginia Ground in the first season of Border Bash!

🎶 Neal Reid (Drums), Jacob Boardwine (Bass), & outlawtrombone (Trombone, and a member of Virginia Ground) - All perform with the band Orbital Planes!

🎶 Blake Collins (Mandolin) - He gigs with everyone and operates Goodman Jewelers of Bristol on State Street!

We’re so fortunate to have all of the local talent that we have in our region! And, we especially love all of you that were on stage at the Paramount last week!
