Ok so I told you about the roses but now you gotta see the other awesome flowers that are going to be available. I'll have hot pink ranunculus, pink coffee berries, the best smelling hot pink stock and I know people have mixed feelings about carnations but these pink lege carnations are so cool. Can you tell I'm excited?! Galentine's is going to be so much fun!!!

It goes without saying that I am disgusted by the mass deportations. To use the tariffs as a weapon to get his way is beyond frustrating. I have been waiting for this to happen. I am on the cusp of making this business work. When I tell you that every penny counts, I truly mean every penny counts. Increased pricing in goods, forces a florist to push the cost onto the customer. I can't eat any increase in cost over 10%. My pricing may seem expensive to some already but I'm giving rock bottom prices for high end blooms. Maybe not the smartest business plan but I want people to really enjoy their flowers from me and not just get a grocery store level bouquet from me.
I knew getting into this business that flowers are a luxury item that not everyone can spend $$ on. I just hoped that if I kept plugging along and providing a quality product and learning from my mistakes and being honest with people that I could make it work. But if too many tariffs are placed on Middle and South America, I'm going to have to restructure my business.
I may have to give up on this dream. Because I don't see how I can maintain a business of purely growing my own flowers and buying only American grown flowers. USA's growing season does not cover all the flowers all of the time. It's overwhelming sitting here watching governments play games with people's lives. It's hard not to be angry at everyone who let this happen. The existential dread has been low level the past few months and has just been ratcheting up. I'm going to keep trying with the good vibes and kindness and acceptance and hope for the best.
