The RB Rogers House has been gifted many items and we would like to take a moment from time to time to appreciate that generosity! Thank you to the Pannell Family for the generous gifts of the very comfy chairs and many books in our library, our beautiful iron bed in The Cottage just to name a few. But especially our beautiful piano that completes our Ladies Parlor and serves a reminder of the musical contribution Elvirah Rogers made within Brownwood’s community as the first piano teacher at HPU.

On Tuesday, April 25, the Brown County Historical Society held its monthly meeting at the R.B. Rogers House. The 16 members of the commission enjoyed a light meal of sandwiches and salad while reviewing old business and planning for upcoming events. The Brown County Historical Society was formed in 1970. Its main function is to discover, collect, and preserve the history of this area. For instance, the Society was instrumental in saving the old Brown County Jail building and making it the Brown County Museum of History, Inc. Members of the Society include the directors of that museum as well as the Lehnis Railroad Museum and the Pecan Valley Genealogical Society.

Following their meeting, Society members were given a tour of the home, which they hope to feature in a planned series of podcasts on historic Downtown.
