I arrived at Live Well Farm on Saturday to set up a small wedding for the nicest couple. I knew the tables would be dressed and ready for flowers when I arrived, but I was thrilled to see the finishes they chose. It's the small details that make the biggest impact. I felt inspired (and relieved) the second I walked into the tent.
The wedding flower color palette leaned on rich neutrals and heavy texture--rich browns, rusty oranges with accents of mauve and plum. I incorporated lots of grasses, dangling Northern Sea Oats, bronze Hanging Amaranthus and the jagged leaves of burgundy/red Hibiscus 'Mahogany Splendor'. I designed this wedding around the types of plants and flowers that would be peaking by early October. The arrangements were small but packed full of texture and rich color. I knew there was a chance the flowers could look busy depending on the selections the couple made for the decor, but was relieved to see what they had waiting for me.
The table settings the couple chose were the perfect neutral backdrop for the flowers- the stemware and plates had clean lines and smooth edges. The candlesticks were a creamy taupe color with matte metallic bronze holders that matched the flatware. The wooden cross back chairs added warmth and a natural element to the tables. Finally, the white table linens were simple- no ornate patterns or texture to compete with.
These finishes were simple, sophisticated choices that instantly elevated the look of the reception by providing balance and contrast with the rich colors and textures of the flower arrangements.
