Brunswick Area Student Aid Fund The BASAF provides need-based, post secondary education grants to High School graduates from Brunswick, Topsham, Harpswell Bowdoin and Bowdoinham, ME

In 1954, Mario Tonon, Principal of Brunswick High School, created the Brunswick Area Student Aid Fund. In the first year, six scholarships of $50.00 each were awarded. Today, citizens, students and local businesses, coupled with sound management, have helped create our present endowment of approximately $4 million; recent annual awards exceeded $300,000. In addition to post-secondary education gra

nts, the Fund pays for eye glasses, clothing, doctors, dentists and other necessities on behalf of elementary and secondary school students for families in need.

General information

All graduates of, or students about to graduate from, Brunswick High School and Mt. Ararat High School are eligible for up to two years’ need- based assistance to any accredited post-secondary institution. In addition, graduates of other secondary schools who are residents of Bowdoin, Bowdoinham, Brunswick, the Harpswells, or Topsham, or those residents who are home-schooled, are equally eligible.
