We are pleased to share that our snowmaking team has pulled off another amazing, season-starting feat.

Tomorrow, Saturday, November 23rd, we will open for our 64th season - all the way to the top! Our early season weekend hours will be in effect: 8:30 AM until 4:30 PM.

We encourage anyone planning to visit this weekend to pre-purchase online at cataloochee.com in advance. All products including slope passes, rentals, and lessons will be available two weeks out, and up to two weeks in advance from this point forward. Direct link to purchase is in our bio.

Biltmore will reopen its doors on November 2 in a display of community resolve as Asheville and Western North Carolina continue their healing journey after Hurricane Helene.

As with the entire region, conditions vary by location across the 8,000-acre property. Biltmore House and the Conservatory, Winery, Gardens, and overnight properties received minimal or no damage from the storm, and significant efforts have been made to welcome back visitors in time for the holiday season✨

🎄Christmas at Biltmore—beginning on November 2—will feature fragrant wreaths, glittering garland, and the sparkle of thousands of ornaments from Biltmore House to Antler Hill Village.

Biltmore will also offer Candlelight Christmas Evenings, where you can enjoy America’s Largest Home and the thousands of ornaments and holiday lights twinkling throughout the Estate. Thank you to those who reached out to us after Hurricane Helene. While Gatlinburg was fortunate not to be affected by the flooding, we know the impact on our neighboring communities has, understandably, raised questions.

We've responded throughout the week but wanted to answer the most common ones we've received in one spot.

Was Gatlinburg flooded?
No, Gatlinburg was fortunate not to be affected by the flooding from Hurricane Helene.

Is Gatlinburg open?
Yes, we are welcoming anyone who can safely travel here.

How are the roads?
We have up-to-date road information and suggested alternate routes at the link above. While most routes into Gatlinburg are unaffected, some roads east of us are closed. We recommend checking the link to find the safest option for you.

How can I help the communities affected by the flooding from the hurricane?
We have donation opportunities at the link above, including fundraisers, drop-off locations, and efforts from local businesses.

Can I visit Great Smoky Mountains National Park?
Yes, U.S. 441 and many other popular locations on the Tennessee side of the park are open. However, some areas on the North Carolina side are closed. Be sure to check the link above for the current closures and conditions in the park before you visit.

Our hearts and prayers go out to the residents of Western North Carolina who have been impacted by the devastating effects of Helene. The Great Smoky Mountains Railroad has been working tirelessly to restore a sense of normalcy during this challenging time.

We are pleased to announce that passenger rail operations from Bryson City to the Nantahala Gorge will resume on Monday, September 30. Reservations are now available.
