Painted Lakes Venue History
Painted Lakes offers stunning rustic weddings and barn weddings with a gorgeous view, and a 1920s era barn for your reception or dance! The Texas Tumbleweed Barn is climate controlled and sits on top of a hill overlooking Painted Lakes with a pond at the foot of the hill. The barn has a 3,000 sq ft covered patio that enables you to seat additional guests, dance, or have an outdoor ceremony with a view even if it rains! No matter what the Texas weather dishes out, we’ve got you covered!
The barn was originally built in 1927 as an oil field supply store, and when the oil boom ending in the early 1930s, it was purchased by Joe and Florence Clayton and opened as a local feed store. The barn was a feed store for 60+ years and finally became vacant, owned by Joe Clayton’s grandchildren, Joe and Jerry Lake, who then passed it to Wade Lake. In March of 2017, Wade and Susan had Randy Martin (star of Texas Flip & Move) move the barn to it’s current location where it now sits on a hill with a fantastic view!
Painted Lakes officially opened in September of 2017, and we now host weddings, parties, family reunions, retreats and all types of events. We offer many options to go with our rustic weddings to include chuck wagon catering, ice cream wagon, horse drawn carriages, s***t shooting, games, a bounce house with a sitter and more! The venue also offers overnight accommodations onsite!
