THIS SATURDAY 2/1. You won’t want to miss it!
The Stardust is excited to host local speaker Walt Dabney on Saturday, 2/1 to disseminate some very important information...
"If you enjoy camping, hiking, 4x4 adventures, skiing, hunting, fishing, river running, climbing, and exploring the great outdoors -
There is something you need to know about!
America’s public lands are among our nation’s greatest treasures. They include national parks, forests, monuments, trails, conservation areas, historic sites, memorials, battlefields, recreation areas, wild and scenic rivers, wildlife refuges, and Bureau of Land Management (BLM) lands. These spaces are owned by all of us, meaning as Americans, we are public landowners.
While national parks are well known, most public lands are not parks. Instead, they serve diverse purposes, from recreation to grazing and mining, and are utilized by people of all political backgrounds—often at little or no cost.
But there’s a problem: America’s public lands are in danger.
A movement is underway to transfer these lands into state ownership. If that happens, they will become vulnerable to sale, likely ending up in private hands, which would mean losing access to lands that belong to all of us.
The History and Future of America’s Public Lands tells the story of how these lands became ours, the decisions over time that shaped how we use them, and the growing efforts to transfer them out of our hands and into state ownership.
We must understand this history, share it with others, and contact our congressional representatives, demanding they ensure our 'Public Land stays in Public Hands.' "
We hope you'll attend to learn more and stay for Q&A.
Please spread the word and we'll see you there!
