Scenes from Valentine's 🥀

I've been limiting my time on social media, but I wanted to say a big THANK YOU for supporting this local biz through what we can call increasingly unprecedented times. I must say I've been terrified this past month navigating increasing material costs, product issues, maintenance issues, landlord issues, A GLOBAL RECESSION, and more than a few harrowing details regarding an Amerikkka in Crisis. Crazy that as a small biz I continue to be beholden to this platform (Instagram, Meta, &c.) that continually denigrates and censors calls for POC, trans, and immigrant rights. Can't we all just go back to Livejournals and Nokia bricks? Capitalism seemed so much easier a foe then. Though that could just be the nostalgia talking ♥️

Happy Lunar New Year to those who celebrate 🧧

Grateful for c. 60s-70s ikebana books without which there would be no bōtan! But mostly grateful for immigrants for adding so much beauty to my life, my ma especially 😊🫶

(Ps. My ma is Korean but "bōtan" and "ikebana" are Japanese words! So sorry maman but they are terms more easily commercialized in this country!!!! Korea was under Japanese occupation for many years so I borrow their terms here mercilessly 😅)
