When I started Ravelle, I created it as a company that encompassed all things culinary.

Upon opening my kitchen at 37 Chandler St, that vision expanded to wanting to help other small, locally owned culinary businesses gain new audiences and additional traction.

Today, I’m proud to say that Ravelle consistently hosts 3 additional independent brands for
commissary purposes and occasional pop-ups.

I have always maintained that food (cooking, eating, etc.) is a total sensory experience.

Food is art. It’s layered, culturally influenced, nuanced, and open to interpretation. It should be beautiful, and spark inspiration.

That’s ALWAYS what I’ve strived to accomplish in the presentation of my food, even in meal prep.

So when I was contacted by The Buffalo AKG Art Museum to cater an event, I was floored.

Today marks 11 years in business for .co

11 years of building a dream that was founded on a single brownie recipe. 11 years of pure hustle & pure passion.

There have been countless baked goods, dessert displays, private chef events, cooking classes, catering events, and so much more along the way.

I been blessed with more peaks than valleys, but I’m thankful for every part of the journey all the same.

To the 100’s of customers and 1000’s of taste testers over the years, I thank you.

Today I was able to teach a class for a friend I’ve known for 20+ years.

She planned the class for her man and chose items based on his favorite foods. But we were still able to lean in to some old school cooking lessons & techniques that she learned growing up. I make it a point to honor and build on what my clients already know because it’s so important to be confident in the kitchen and proud of what you create. And that often comes with honoring and acknowledging those who introduced them to the kitchen, which resonates deeply with me, as home cooks made me the chef I am today.

Today I was able to elevate my clients’ food knowledge base, while connecting them further as a couple and of course, blessing their kitchen with some great dishes & recipes.

My mother is half Syrian & Lebanese, so lamb chops were a dinner entree that stayed in regular rotation for me growing up.

Next to a well marbled ribeye, lamb chops are my favorite protein to put on the grill.

Speaking of grilling, who else is pulling out the indoor grill pans because you can’t get outside to fire up the grill yet!? Just Buffalonians? Oh, ok. 🥲

Being an African American is to be a gatekeeper of African American history. Because our lineage was stripped from us during slavery, our food holds the keys to our history as a people. As a , I believe it’s not only my responsibility to deliver food in a way that conveys the story of my ancestors, but also in a way that helps to build and further the of African Americans as a people. I cook with techniques that were introduced to the American culinary world by a Black chef. In my recipes, I’m able to highlight ingredients that were brought to America through the Triangular Trade and cultivated on the fields of plantations. I cook with methods that have been both defined and perfected by Black chefs as well. It is an honor to carry on our legacy through the work of my career. The culinary scene in America is incredibly whitewashed and male dominated. As a Black female chef, I am afforded the ability and opportunity to put a positive spotlight on both women in the culinary world, and the African American community as a whole.
