e have to talk about those things we were made to keep secret and feel ashamed of. The abuse that we don't understand and the ripple affect it has well into our adult lives. A narcissist is not just an arrogant individual. Their pain causes them to be void of any real emotion and they thrive on inflicting that pain to all others, because no one saved them from their own pain. Through "talking", I learned how to recognize these individuals. Because they start out appearing to be perfect, we often spend more time trying to understand the change, and staying longer than we should have. I learned how and why it is necessary to leave, and stay gone, and finally, how vital it is to do the "shadow work" to heal from the trauma in order to move forward and maintain healthy relationships. I consider myself one of the strongest women, aside from my mother, and certainly one who "don't play" when it comes to relationships. Ignoring red flags, questioning my gut, and outright ignoring my discernment landed me in what was initially presented as "everything I wanted" and ended up being a lesson that I needed to learn and message to deliver to ALL who need to .
