In Patagonia, the scenery does the talking. Hotel Awa just gives it a stage.

On the shores of Lake Llanquihue, with the Osorno Volcano filling every window, Hotel Awa feels like staying inside a postcard.

Designed by Chilean architect Mauricio Fuentes, this boutique retreat features 16 suites, all with fireplaces and soaking tubs overlooking the lake; a rooftop perfect for stargazing on crystal-clear nights; and a culinary program that pairs local ingredients with Chile’s best wines (private tastings can be arranged in-house).

For adventure days, ask about heli-tours over glaciers, kayaking in hidden fjords, or horseback rides that take you deep into the Andes, experiences most travelers never find on their own.

Looking for Patagonia with style and insider access? I'll make it happen.

Sometimes the difference between a good trip and a great one is in the upgrades.

VIP airport suites let you bypass the crowds, sip champagne, and board discreetly when you’re ready. Greeter services whisk you through customs and immigration while everyone else is still in line. And with a private car waiting curbside, the stress of travel disappears before the trip even begins.

Upgrades don’t stop there. For some, it’s a table reserved by a Michelin-star chef. For others, it’s a private yacht for the week—or even a full resort buyout to celebrate with family and friends. The point is: the best upgrade is always the one that matters most to you.

What’s the best view of Dubrovnik? Some say it’s from the city walls. I say it’s from your balcony at Villa Dubrovnik.

Villa Dubrovnik in Croatia designed for those who want the city’s magic with a little more privacy. Some of my favorites here: kayaking across the bay to Lokrum Island, reserving a couples’ treatment at the spa carved directly into the cliffs, and booking a table at Pjerin, the hotel’s fine dining restaurant.

For a truly local touch, I recommend a wine tasting featuring Croatia’s underrated Dalmatian varietals.

Some addresses carry centuries of history. Castello di Casole carries ten.

Once a noble estate, this Belmond retreat is set on 4,200 acres of rolling Tuscan hills. Vineyards, olive groves, and cypress-lined roads surround the restored 10th-century castle.

The estate offers private villas for families, a spa built into the wine cellars, and Michelin-worthy dining where every dish is rooted in the land outside the window. Guests love exploring the medieval villages nearby, but often return to catch sunset from the terrace, glass of Chianti in hand.

Planning a trip to NZ? Read this first.

New Zealand rewards the slow traveler. Pick one island, rent a car, and let the landscapes unfold, one scenic lookout at a time.

Make the outdoors your main event. If you’re hiking one of the Great Walks, pack for “four seasons in a day.” It’s not just a saying, it’s real.

And if you’re craving a moment of stillness, head to the clearest lake in the world: Blue Lake in Nelson Lakes National Park. It has over 250 feet of visibility, making it a spectacular pit stop.

Arrive by boat. Or by seaplane. But not by car, because there are no roads to Little Palm Island.

Little Palm Island is one of America’s most exclusive getaways, with just 30 thatched-roof bungalows tucked into the palms. Fun fact: presidents and celebrities have hidden away here for decades, partly because the island enforces a strict no-phone policy in public areas, so it always feels private, even when it’s fully booked.

The resort even has its own seaplane dock for arrivals, and one of the most unique dining experiences in Florida: a table set up on the island’s shifting sandbar, available only when the tide allows. Pair that with the Monkey Hut’s legendary rum cocktails and it’s no wonder guests return year after year.

Once a 19th-century fortress, now one of Europe’s most intriguing new hotels.

Mamula Island has guarded the entrance to Montenegro’s Bay of Kotor for over 150 years. Today, it’s been reimagined as a five-star retreat with just 32 rooms.

What makes it unforgettable: vaulted dining halls transformed into candlelit restaurants, a saltwater rooftop pool with views across UNESCO-protected waters, and a watchtower bar that locals say has the best sunset vantage in the bay.

Private jetties give you direct access to the Adriatic, while the concierge team can arrange boat trips to hidden coves or to the medieval towns of Perast and Kotor. Even the wellness program nods to its setting, with treatments built around local sea salt and mountain herbs.

Want to be among the first to experience it? Let's start planning!

White sands. Sailboats drifting past. And a classic Ritz-Carlton reimagined for the Caribbean traveler of today.

The Ritz-Carlton St. Thomas is one of the Caribbean’s most beloved resorts, and it’s never looked better after its multimillion-dollar renovation.

Some highlights when you stay? Guests can set sail on Lady Lynsey II, the resort’s private catamaran, snorkel with sea turtles in nearby coves, or spend an afternoon at the spa before dining alfresco under the palms. For families, multi-bedroom suites make it easy to stretch out, while couples can book Club Level for even more privacy.

Romantic getaways aren’t hard to find. But true magic? That’s at Las Ventanas al Paraíso.

A Rosewood resort known for setting the bar in Mexico, Las Ventanas al Paraíso offers beachfront suites with private infinity pools, a tequila and ceviche bar that locals rave about.

Romantic dinners, desert horseback rides, and spa rituals inspired by Baja traditions round out the experience. Every stay comes with a personal butler, ready to arrange everything from sunrise yoga to private dinners under the stars.

This is Los Cabos at its most refined. Let's plan your stay.

This isn’t a safari lodge. It’s a safari estate.

Here’s why I recommend Cheetah Plains to my clients: it gives you the full safari experience without compromise. Villas with heated pools and bush views, yes, but also private guides and vehicles, which means no negotiating drive times with other guests.

The electric Land Cruisers are game-changing (literally), getting you closer to sightings without disturbing the wildlife. And when you return, the chefs and sommeliers already know what you like.

It’s safari as personal as it gets, and exactly why this is one of my top picks in Sabi Sand.

Ready to discover the world’s best destinations to see by sea?

Baja’s “aquarium of the world” puts you eye-to-eye with dolphins, rays, and even gray whales with their calves. Sardinia reveals its secret side from the water: pink-sand beaches, tucked-away coves, and fishing villages where lunch is whatever was caught that morning.

In French Polynesia, smaller ships and catamarans slip past coral reefs and anchor close enough to volcanic isles that you can watch the sunset from your stateroom.

And the Caribbean? Island-hopping by yacht means one day you’re sipping rum punch at a beach bar, the next you’re snorkeling in a hidden cove your crew knows by heart.

The best part? You only unpack once, your “room” travels with you, and I know which ships deliver the right balance of luxury and adventure.

St. Moritz invented winter glamour. Badrutt’s Palace perfected it.

Since 1896, this lakeside icon has been the place where royals, rockstars, and Hollywood names come to ski, and to be seen. In winter, it’s all about ski-in/ski-out slopes, horse-drawn sleigh rides across the frozen lake, and après-ski that turns into full-on parties.

But the magic doesn’t melt away with the snow. Summer here means alpine hikes, lake swims, polo on the lakebed, and evenings on the terrace. Add in a spa that feels like its own alpine village, plus more than a dozen restaurants and bars (yes, including Nobu’s Matsuhisa), and it’s easy to see why this hotel is the year-round address in St. Moritz.
