Balloons for Luv Organization, 501 (c)(3) is a children’s nonprofit charity, supporting medical treatment of children suffering with cancer and other serious illnesses. Balloons for Luv does this through the free delivery of colorful Mylar balloons to the hospital bedsides of seriously ill children during times of painful and often frightening treatments. Our passion is to reach thousands of child
ren by providing a Balloons for Luv station to all nonprofit children’s hospitals across the United States. The stations are stocked with colorful Mylar balloons, helium, and other supplies needed so that nurses, doctors, and other caregivers can freely deliver the cheerful Mylar balloons to critically ill children that are in need of an uplifting reminder of hope and encouragement. According to Children’s Hospital and Research Center Oakland Director of Volunteers and Guest Relations Susan Martinez, Balloons for Luv has an overwhelming response from both patients and their families. Inspired by her mother’s incredible compassion, Barbara Sayed was determined to somehow perpetuate her mother’s great generosity of spirit for those children suffering from serious illnesses. Balloons for Luv was founded on Barbara’s vision for helping children suffering from a variety of serious illnesses within nonprofit children’s hospitals nationwide. She was also inspired by the world-famous St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, founded by actor and activist Danny Thomas. As a struggling young entertainer, Thomas often prayed to St. Jude for guidance on what path his life should take. As his career took off, Thomas kept his promise to St. Jude, and launched St. Jude Children's Hospital, which today is known to be an international beacon of hope for children suffering with cancer and other serious diseases and their families. Barbara believes in "never setting limits for myself," she says, and hopes to continue to grow the effort, lifting children’s spirits one balloon at a time. Balloons for Luv Organization operates strictly on generous public and private donations and corporate sponsorships.
