Our 14th annual festival will take place the 3rd weekend of August 2022, in the "Heart of the City" in the family friendly Nicollet Commons Park in Burnsville Minnesota (by the Ames Center) After being established in 2004, the festival has become the centerpiece of summer activities in the area, attracting over 15,000 people. Our unique blend of art vendors, amazing music acts, and food in the cultural hub of the south suburbs makes our event the place to be, and the place to be seen.

Dakota favorites, Jay Young and The Lyric Factory started as a father/son duo in the mid-90s that has grown into a multi-faceted family of Minneapolis’ “first call” musicians who’ve been performing for sold-out audiences around the Twin Cities since 2005.“…the music exploded, showering the room with a joyful exuberance usually reserved for dance halls and gospel services. And no one had more fun than Jay Young” – Jazz PoliceGinger Commodore is one of the premier jazz vocalists in the upper Midwest. Whether performing with her own quartet (GCQ) or as a member of the internationally known vocal jazz quartet “Moore By Four” Ginger is one singer you will never forget.

3PM - 4:30PM Mary Louise Knutson Trio with Special Guest Patty Peterson

Celebrated pianist, Mary Louise Knutson and award-winning vocalist, Patty Peterson have joined their talents over the years many times, performing for high profile galas, acclaimed jazz clubs, and jazz festivals. Together, they have shared the stage with the Twin Cities based Jazz Women All Stars, which was founded by Patty Peterson in 2016, along with Mary Louise Knutson as the musical director. One of their many shared highlights has been performing at the Musical Instrument Museum Theater (MIM) in Phoenix

5PM - 6:30PM Natania & Ticket to Brasil

NATANIA KAMIN is a charismatic vocalist, songwriter and dancer who is passionate about sharing the music of her native Brazil with American audiences.TICKET TO BRASIL is a Bossa nova, Samba and Brazilian jazz project founded by contemporary jazz guitarist and composer Pavel Jany. The group has performed at many national and international jazz events, and has opened for such renowned artists as Trio Brasileiro, Brazilian singer Cibelle and American jazz vocalist Karrin Allyson.

7PM - 9PM Three time Grammy Award winner Jamecia Bennett brings to the stage her powerful show featuring Jazz, Soul and the Blues. As our headliner Jamecia is sure to bring you to your feet and compel you to dance into the night.

Jamecia is a 3-time Grammy award winner who lives here in Minneapolis. The new featured lead vocalist of the original Grammy Award-Winning Sounds of Blackness. She’s sang background for Janet Jackson, Rod Stewart, Jonathan Butler, Jennifer Holiday, Patti LaBelle, Luther Vandross, Sting, Prince and countless others.

Jamecia is no stranger to the stage. She’s one Twin Cites leading actresses in Star-tribune nominated best shows to see, MARIE & ROSETTA, RAISIN IN THE SUN, PASSING STRANGE, & BEAUTY AND THE BEAST. She is also the CEO of her artist development company Minnesota Movement ENT, and a proud partner of one of Twin cities favorite island restaurants Pimento Jamaican Kitchen.

We are thrilled to introduce Raquel Diaz Goutierez as our 2023 Artist Liason.

Raquel Diaz Goutierez is a contemporary oil and acrylic mixed-media painter and Panamanian political asylee who addresses the green movement through her artistic journey. Raquel transferred from New Orleans to the City of Burnsville in 2001 with her husband and three children. She served as the Director for the Burnsville Visual Arts Society, BVAS from 2017 - 2020, assisting in growth, diversity and developed opportunities to showcase local artists at City Hall, Ames Center, and Fire Muster. For nearly two decades, she has served in various leadership roles for public, private, and nonprofit sectors by providing relationship building, community-based initiatives, and program management in Ramsey and Hennepin County, contributing to the economic revitalization efforts in East Lake Street in 2021.

Today Raquel serves the City of Brooklyn Center as an Artist-In-Residence, working to recreate a sense of identity to build a healthier community, guide the beautification, public art initiatives, and establish a Cultural Arts Commission. As an artist and arts advocate, she aims to uplift cultural expression and deepen the connection and health benefits experiencing arts offers to its viewers.
