For over a century, Industrial Mutual Association (IMA) has been at the heart of the Flint area, creating opportunities and building community through recreational and educational programs. From our historic roots to our present-day focus, we are proud to carry forward a mission that began with visionaries like J. Dallas Dort, Charles Stewart Mott, and Walter P. Chrysler.

The legacy of the IMA lives on through IMA Brookwood Golf Club and our junior golf program, First Tee Eastern Michigan. Committed to honoring the IMA Recreation's rich history, our mission is to provide social, recreational and educational programs, facilities and opportunities to meet the changing needs of our community.

IMA Brookwood Golf Course and Driving Range will be closing for the season after Wednesday, November 13th. Thank you all for a fantastic season!

Our simulators will be up and running starting Monday, November 25th. It’s the perfect way to keep your swing sharp all winter long!

We are proud to recognize our dedicated staff, board, committee members, and volunteer coaches for achieving 100% SafeSport compliance at First Tee Eastern Michigan! This accomplishment reflects our unwavering commitment to safeguarding the well-being of the young people in our community. By staying informed and up-to-date on best practices, our team ensures that children remain safe while they learn and grow with us.

But why is this compliance so important?

For children to thrive both intellectually and emotionally, they need a foundation of physical and emotional safety—whether at home, school, or within their community. Parents today are increasingly turning to extracurricular activities not just for fun, but for opportunities to help their children build confidence, character, and life skills. In fact, 80% of parents believe that these activities are more about personal development than recreation.

Sports, in particular, play a crucial role in fostering mental well-being, teaching essential life skills, and connecting children with supportive adults who guide their character development. Nearly all parents agree that safety is paramount: 94% of parents say it’s essential for coaches to undergo background checks, and they overwhelmingly prefer coaches who are trained to ensure safety, maintain a consistent coaching approach, and adapt to the unique needs of each child.

At First Tee Eastern Michigan, we understand these concerns, and SafeSport compliance is just one of the many ways we prioritize the safety, growth, and development of every child we serve.
