Haven’t posted in a while… is is worth mentioning that we’ll be playing some “lost 80s” stuff tonight? Stuff you may remember (if you’re of a certain age) that doesn’t get much airplay any more. Give us a call at 782-2263 if there’s something you want to hear that might fit the bill. 8-10 pm at 102.5 fm, streaming at butteamericaradio.org

Tonight we’ll look back and honor some of the musicians we lost in 2022. Loretta Lynn, Olivia Newton-John, Christine McVie and Meat Loaf will all be heard from, along with some other lesser-known but equally talented artists. 8-10 p.m. on KBMF, 102.5 FM, streaming at butteamericaradio.org

Tonight the Papa Romeo Radio Show will look back on some of our favorites that were released in 2022. There were some good’ns!

Tune in to the Papa Romeo Radio Show tonight at 8 for the semi-annual Thinkin’ About Drinkin’ show — Whiskey Edition. That’s right. Bourbon, Scotch, Irish, Canadian or blended. Two hours of songs about whiskey, so belly up and bring your shot glass. It promises to be a thoroughly forgettable episode!

Tonight’s show will take Gee-dub and PR east to Minneapolis, where they’ll listen to a wide variety of music from the area… from Prince to Hüsker Dü, and from early Bob Dylan to the Replacements. Though it’s a deviation from the usual PRRS, the music and history promise to entertain.

Hey all, it's Tax Day! In keeping with the spirit of the thing, I got a nice early start on my taxes earlier this afternoon. The joy!
Anyway, we'll have some tax and money songs on tonight's Papa Romeo Radio Show, which is all well and good, but I had another thought. We're rapidly approaching the time when it's six months after the last election and six months before the next election. As you're all aware, I'm sure, that means it's about time for the semi-annual Thinkin' About Drinkin' show! The first is on Election Day (a fine reason to drink, if ever there was one) and the other one is six months out, usually early in May.
Upon further reflection, however, early May is hardly a reason for drinking, in and of itself. A couple weeks before early May.... you guessed it, Tax Day! What better reason for drinking?
Tonight's show will still be about taxes and money (or the lack thereof), and the semi-annual Thinkin' About Drinkin' show will be in early May, but from here on out, Tax Day and Election Day (or whenever the PRRS falls in relation) will be the new dates for my favorite shows of the year.
Thanks for tuning in!

Thinking of a show about songs with a story behind them. Not so much songs that tell a story — think “Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald“ — as much as songs that you maybe didn’t realize had a back story.
Take “Garden Party” by Ricky Nelson. I love the quote “You can’t please everyone so you’ve got to please yourself,” and looked it up to see if he wrote that. Turns out the song is about an appearance he made in 1971 at Madison Square Garden, where he showed up with long hair and bell bottoms and got booed by the audience after singing “Country Honk” by The Rolling Stones.
I’ve heard the song a million times, but finally get some of the references after reading about it.
Any suggestions for me?

Sorry to have slacked on the Facebook front! We’ll make a better effort to update the goings on at the PRRS.
Tonight’s show will look into the realm of supergroups, those musical entities made up of previously successful musicians.
Thanks for listening!!

It’s time for the semi-annual Thinkin’ ‘bout Drinkin’ show! PR and GDub will serve a few rounds of alcohol-infused songs for your listening pleasure. When the PRRS was on Tuesdays, Election Day was always a Thinkin’ ‘bout Drinkin’ show. Now on election eve, we’ll try to help folks get their minds right for the next day.
Slainte!

This week’s show grew from one song, The Cape, by Guy Clark. I won’t spoil it if you haven’t heard it, but it’s one of his best. Monday’s show will be about heroes, some super, some not so much, but it’s been fun putting it together and discovering songs that fit well.

In honor of Labor Day, the Papa Romeo Radio Show will play songs about work and people who work. There might be a few Union anthems, and maybe even a song or two about relaxing after a job well done. The show is broadcast from the Gibraltar of Labor, the Carpenters Union Hall in scenic Uptown Butte America, from 8-10 p.m. mountain daylight time. KBMF is an educational community asset. From time to time station disc jockeys are asked to share their knowledge with new recruits in “buddy sessions.” This coming Monday from 8-10 p.m., the new time slot for The Papa Romeo Radio Show, my daughter will put in her third and final buddy session, completing her training. She will then be able to fill in for established DJs or pick an open time slot to have her own weekly show.
So tune in and hear what the kids are listening to. She will run the whole show, and I’ll just be there to answer questions. I got a sneak preview of the music, and it’s great!
