🍻 Big Butte Brewfest Spotlight: Nevada 🍻

We’re thrilled to welcome Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. to the Big Butte Brewfest! 🌟

Founded by the ever-curious Ken Grossman, Sierra Nevada’s journey began with backyard experiments and a passion for homebrewing. Ken’s fascination with fermentation led him to open The Home Brew Shop in Chico, where he began crafting hop-forward flavors that were ahead of their time. 🍺

Ken’s dedication saw him scouring salvage yards and defunct dairies to hand-build Sierra Nevada’s original brewhouse. On November 15, 1980, he brewed his first batch of craft beer—a 13-hour labor of love that resulted in a stout so good, he knew he had a keeper. The Pale Ale that followed sparked a craft beer revolution, and the adventure hasn’t stopped since. 🌿✨

From brewing test batches of pale ales and purchasing a 15-barrel system from a defunct brewery in North Carolina in 2002, to now supporting over 70 employees and being the largest independent brewery in Washington State, a lot has happened! 🚀
