JENNY. āBecause I knew you, I have been changed, for goodā¦ā
Oh, how this post deserves to be #1 šIn 3 days, itās been a year since we lost her, & I still cry almost every day.
This 39-yr old angel received her wings, after a courageous & relentless battle with breast cancer.
I met Jenny in the early 2000ās, happily āinheritingā her when I bought a flower shop in Pocasset. She was an Interior Design student at Endicott College, and would come home to deliver flowers, & work the store register. With very little guidance, she quickly became a beautiful (& fast!) Floral Designer, & full time store Manager. After eventually selling the shop to her, I started this business in my home. Naming it āKJā, to represent the āKā in my name and the āJā in hersā¦.just in case we became partners again & expanded.
A little over 8 years ago, I received a call that she found a lump during a self exam. Following a brave battle through chemo and radiation; during her remission, she designed for KJ. In fact, if you scroll down before the pandemic in 2020, 90% of the designs you see on this page, are hersš«¶
In 2020, she married, & we discussed collaborating for her to design more: but in 2021, while pregnant with her son, she experienced some back pain, & found the cancer had metastasized to her bones. The next few years of her life, was handled with grace, positivity, bravery, and a fight like I have never seen beforeā¦.but her battle was reluctantly lost.
Jenny was the nicest, most compassionate person Iāve ever known. The perfect combination of a little sister, daughter, confidant, dear friend & cheerleader. A hard worker, silly comedian, and Broadway Musical connoisseurā¦Jenny never met a song she didnāt know the lyrics to, & could nail an impression of Mariah Carey on demand.
We share so many fond memories together around this Flower career, that this past year of designing was an emotional one for me: realizing the finality of never sharing it with her again.
Jenny, I hope you are pain-free & Defying Gravity.
