The Blue Barn

I’ve been noodling on gratitude all day. Thinking about the people in my life who just show up with gifts. The kinds of gifts you take with you till the end.

There’s my grandmothers who taught me to cook, and lit a passion and fire for cooking and nurturing people through food.

And my backyard neighbor, Marty, a retired college geology teacher, who taught me all the basics of organic gardening over 15 years ago. I’ve loved gardening ever since.

And today, especially, I am grateful for my sweet friend, Hilary Byma. She has been a driving force in helping me convert this barn into a customizable venue. She’s also an amazing creative partner, in addition being a fantastic listener, a therapeutic communicator and wonderful source of support. In the last several days she’s taught me to reupholster chair seats!

I had no idea upholstery could be so calming and challenging and enjoyable! This is the super easy stuff, but I am loving it! Another gift I get to take along on my journey. It makes my heart happy. And for that, the gratitude just keeps flowing. 🙏🏻❤️

The gardens at The Blue Barn have been growing like crazy! Watermelons, cherries, garlic, zucchinis, cabbage, herbs of all kinds, and so many green tomatoes I stopped counting!

On June 21,2021, Eric and I were joined in marriage on our property after 4 days of celebrations in our blue barn. Like many days and events in our relationship, God was ever and noticeably present that day. We married each other, and became a new family. We also committed to ourselves, our family, and friends to care for and tend to the land we purchased just a few months prior. We have taken our ten acres as stewards of the earth. As our gardens continue to grow, so does our commitment to the land and our community.

The Blue Barn was a magical place that weekend. We have been hard at work to continuously improve the space so that we can share it with all of you.

Earlier this Spring I reconnected with one of my most special friends, Hilary Byma. Hilary and I quickly realized our partnership and shared visions for offering the Blue Barn to families in the area. With Hilary's masterful design style and my passion for gardening, cooking and hosting events we are very proud to say our first scheduled event is taking place on August 20, 2022.
