Summary ~ An intense, long-lived squall line is expected to move through a large portion of the region later today and tonight. Inside the yellow, orange, and red area, damaging wind gusts and tornadoes are likely, with significant damaging wind gusts greater than 75 MPH most likely in the orange and red area. A cluster of thunderstorms will develop in west-central MN before sunset and move southeast into the overnight hours. The exact placement could shift until it actually develops.

Discussion ~ A warm front is surging north, and it'll situate in central MN later today. With a stout CAP in place, this will be the focused area of initiation as more mixing is expected, eroding the CAP. Strong buoyancy with MLCAPE greater than 3,000 J/kg and moderate effective shear greater than 40 knots will organize any severe thunderstorms, turning it into a widespread severe weather threat. Downstream of the developing MCS, strong to extreme SBCAPE in excess of 4,500 J/kg, 40+ knot effective shear, and a strong LLJ over 50 knots will continue the MCS strength well into the overnight hours southeast. When supercells first initiate, strong 0-1km and 0-6km shear will be in place, increasing strong tornado potential with STP parameters nearly maxed out.

Happy Wedding Day to Katie and Tyson!!

Tyson is originally from Melrose, WI and Katie grew up in the Air Force, so she lived all over!

They’ve been together almost 7 years - they love to spend time together outside doing a lot of hiking and camping (that’s why they were so drawn to this venue!)

They got engaged September 2022 and are tying the knot today 🩷
