Hello everyone! I know a lot of you have already been over to see the 2023 edition of our neighborhood light show. If you have not had the chance yet, it will run for 3 more days. Tonight and Sunday it will run from 5 until 10, and on Monday it will run from 5 until 9. It has been a strange year with almost no snow and mostly open water on the ponds reflecting the lights, but that part makes our show special.

All of us in Jamestown want to thank you for stopping by. It makes the countless hours of work the show requires all worth it knowing this community appreciates all we do. We hope we added a little joy to your holidays.

From all of us at Jamestown Lights, Happy New Year!

Merry Christmas everyone! We had a very busy weekend with visitors to the show. If you were one of them, thanks for coming! Now I know some fans have moved away and do miss the lights. My show helper, Grayson, put together a little video of the show. There are 7 homeowners participating, but these are mainly focused on the the east side of Ta**us. It is very difficult to get everyone into one shot. If you have not had a chance to stop by to see it in person, we will be running through January 1st.

Hello light show fans! If one of your holiday traditions is to go out to view all the holiday decorations including a stop at Jamestown Lights, we are expecting a good turnout tonight. Please follow the leader and pull forward as other visitors leave. This year is very special as the ponds are still not frozen over providing a unique reflective view of the display. And when you enter the subdivision waiting in line, don't miss Kristen and Tim's house just as you come in. They have lights that are also part of the show!

The show tonight is a "best of" presentation. It is just a little over 30 minutes long to help keep the line moving. If you have not seen the whole show, it will return beginning tomorrow through January 1st. We will run tonight until 10 PM.

If your family was here last night and your young son lost his new baseball cap, I picked it up during my morning walk. Please message me so that we can get it back to him!

From all of us here in Jamestown, Merry Christmas to one an all!

Yesterday evening we reached another milestone - 6,000 followers of the light show here on Facebook. This is simply humbling as we started this thing 14 years ago in Jamestown with a single display in our back yard. Each year we added a few more lights and props, and before long it moved onto our neighbor's yard per their invitation. Other neighbors were also decorating their back yards, so I invited them to become a part of the show. Well today it is a neighborhood event that provides a bit of joy in today's world. All of us in Jamestown want to thank each and every one that come to see the show each year. And as one of the songs in this years' show says, "We wish you a Merry Christmas!"

Have heard from a few of you today, but yes, we are going to run the show tonight in the rain. The water causes GFI electrical trip problems, but with so many homes we cannot predict what might be affected until things turn on. I will update if things really are bad.

Barring any breaking major news occurring today, the Racine County Eye will be talking about both Jamestown light shows today on their Racine Roundup segment on TMJ 4 at 4:00. The segment typically runs about 20 minutes after the hour.

WISN 12 was just here doing a story on the Jamestown Light show!

Check video from Lester Johnson below. He has a "front row" view of the show. Don't miss the part where he looks out his window at the live lights!

And here is the actual WISN news feed:

I know there are some of you discovering the light show for the first time this year. But then there are some of you that have followed us from the early beginnings in Franklin, where we started this in 2005 with 64 channels of computer control. Now in our 14th year here in Jamestown, the show has over 1500 channels of lights spread over 7 homes!

During those times songs have come and gone, but some have become staples and have appeared in the show every year. The one that started it all was "Wizards In Winter" and is actually a descendent of the original sequence done by Carson Williams in 2004. An original composition that I designed way back then was the song "Mr. Santa" by Amy Grant. That one too remains a staple in today's show.

My helper over the years has been young neighbor Grayson, and he has put together a video combining Mr. Santa from 2007 and 2019. It shows how the basic programming has remained the same, but as lights were added each season new programming had to be done to sequence the new channels into the song. Things like the leaping arches, LED fan, ICON tree, fountains, candy cane wheels, and not forgetting Douglas Fir, have taken hundreds of hours of time to program them all into the song program. Here is Grayson's comparison video.

If you have been coming to the show in past, you know I have received a lot of assistance over the years putting up my lights from Grayson and his father, Dan, Jamestown neighbors. Emma Widmar from the Racine County Eye put together a nice story on the history of our friendship. If you have not yet seen it, here is a link to the online article.

10/12/2023

We are moving up the show start time to 6:45 as of tonight.

One person made a comment on the page that is worth repeating. Our show is very family friendly. From the very young to the young at heart, we try to bring you a smile with our light show. No scary gory stuff here. Just fun.

Hello Jamestown light show fans! Today we start the 2023 edition of the Halloween Spooktacular. It will start at 7 and run through 10 on Friday and Saturday, and end at 9:30 on the other nights. The start time will move up as the sun sets earlier. Bring your snacks and enjoy the show from your vehicle with your radio tuned to 97.7 FM! And as always, the show is FREE!

Well with 2022 coming to an end, so will the light show. Your last chances to see it will be tonight and tomorrow night. It will run from 5 until 10 both nights. The weather this year made it difficult some nights to see the show, but we did our best keeping everything working. We hope you had a chance to stop by.

Thank you for all the kind words that you have left on this page or through messenger. It makes the hundreds of hours every year that go into making this show happen worth every minute.

The Jamestown families that put this show on want to wish everyone a safe and prosperous 2023!

We are going to let the display run until 10 tonight. Frosty is back after a 3 day deflation for wind protection. The snowflake ladder also returned yesterday. Although we suffered some wind damage, it could have been a lot worse.

I know since you are reading this you are already aware of our "little" neighborhood light show, but there are others who still are discovering us for the first time. Below is our 2022 show flyer which provides details and directions on how to find us. If you know of anyone that might be interested in seeing our production, please share it with them. Merry Christmas from all of us in Jamestown!

Hello light show fans! It is LIGHTS FRIDAY! Our 2022 show premieres tonight at 5. It will run until 10 on Fridays and Saturdays, and 9 on the other nights of the week. The weather once again made things difficult setting up outside, but as of last night all is tested and ready to go. Your host "Douglas Fir" is back, along with his guitar playing friend "Randy Balsam". We also have a few new additions to the show this year. The show runs just a little over an hour.

The photo below is a composite made by Grayson of this years' show, who has helped over the years setting up the lights. Also listen for a song he sequenced in the show. He is also hosting his own light show, Heritage Avenue Holiday Lights, just 5 minutes south of our display.

We have to say a huge THANK YOU to the families of Jamestown, who are either directly participating in the show or put up with the increased traffic it brings to our neighborhood. It has become a "must see" event for the surrounding community. This will be our 13th year, and thank everyone for the kind words you have expressed on this labor of love. I personally have to thank my wife Debbie, as she puts up with a lot with me working on the show.

10/28/2022

For the last 4 nights, the show will start at 6:15. Thanks everyone for another boo-tiful show!

10/21/2022

As the sun sets earlier, the show starts earlier. 6:30 is the current show start time. Also the birch trees in the yard have lost a good amount of their leaves, so viewing the talking face will be possible now from a lot more parking spots on Ta**us.

This should be a great weather weekend for show viewing. Please, if you have the windows rolled down, don't crank up the radio. Our neighbors have heard the show many times. 😄😄😄
