(See Comments for Event Poster) Town of The Week is back in gear and we are making our way down the road to Froelich! This blink-and-you'll-miss-it town may not be big in stature but it has a lot of history in its buildings. Froelich is the home of 1890s Village Museum Site birthplace of John Froelich's invention of the first gasoline powered tractor able to propel itself backward & forward in 1892. The Museum is home to the Iron Clad Store, Train Depot, Blacksmith Shop and a 1866 Schoolhouse.
We usually don't release town of the week till Sunday but this Saturday and Sunday, visitors can enjoy a variety of old-time demonstrations, including blacksmithing, rope making, cider pressing apples and wool spinning.
Threshing displays are planned for both days, around 1 p.m. Tractors will be on display throughout the weekend too, especially on Saturday.
Keith Kerr’s mini steam engine and baler, now operated by his family, will be in Froelich along with hit and miss engines.
Have a tractor lover in your life? Then this is their event! Does anyone have any stories about Froelich? We would love to hear them!
