Your baker, Bethany Jones: I am a marketing professional and graphic designer by day, and was trained as a fine artist (BA and most of my MA in Fine Arts/painting) studying, living, and showing my work in Detroit, New York, and the South of France. I like to think I truly cemented my love of the art of exquisite food in my travels: From my good midwestern
roots watching my mother bake bread every Sunday, to the incredible Greek, middle eastern and soul food to be found in Detroit; to the amazing pastry shops and restaurants of Paris and southern France (even the smallest villages boast at least one Chef!) to the incredibly refined dining experiences to be had in New York, Chicago, Madison, Paris, Venice, countless small villages in France, Italy, Austria, Germany, and so many other places where I've eaten myself into pure bliss. I've been baking (and cooking) from scratch for as long as my nose reached above the counter top. I am dedicated to enjoying amazing food as a part of "a good life." In my baking, I am dedicated to creating beautiful, delicious, individual and personal baked creations for any occasion. I have cooked in a french restaurant in Cambridge Wisconsin, and have been baking cakes for friends' special occasions for a number of years. While specializing in artisan cakes, I also have won awards for my pies, and also bake cookies, scones, biscotti and other baked goods on request. Certified under the Michigan Cottage Food law, I bake at home in Ripley, where I live with my family: Two kids and dog (who are all Banish-ed while baking is underway.) Anything that comes from this kitchen is baked with love and complete attention to detail. Prices are determined by each individual project, however a minimum deposit for a celebration cake is $50, plus additional fees. A sheet-type non-filled one layer cake will start at $50 - $60, a 6" layer cake torted with one filling will usually start from $70 - $80, 8" layer cakes $80 - $90, 10" layer cakes $90 and up. Multiple layer cakes will be priced based on complexity of decoration and construction, and number of servings, usually priced at $50 plus $2 - $3/serving. I try to customize each project to the needs and interests of the customer, so please always call, message or email to discuss ideas, and we can tailor pricing based on final concept, which may or may not fall within these general pricing brackets.
