✨2 ANNOUNCEMENTS ✨

💐First, my books are officially open for full year 2026! September and October weekends tend to go first, so if you are considering me for your autumn 2026 wedding, I encourage you to inquire soon!

I have put together a Wish List (link in bio), which includes color schemes + designs + elements that I would love love to do in 2026! I tend to give some sort of discount when a potential client’s vision aligns with the silly things going on in my brain, so if any of my Wish List items spark joy for you, let me know when you inquire! 🤩

💐Second, I plan to take a little break from social media, because I’m at my limit in seeing anti-trans headlines that the algo just WANTS to put in front of me (because ragebait = profit) and I need to preserve my mental health so I can continue creating art and find ways to support the q***r community in a way that is sustainable mentally. A moment for the flowers of Queerly Beloved last month! 🌈

This was, without a doubt, one of my most challenging—and most rewarding—projects yet! I had the honor of designing unique personal flowers for 7 couples eloping that day, ensuring each pair felt celebrated and seen. One couple firmly requested “absolutely NO roses or sunflowers,” while the next exclaimed, “we LOVE roses and sunflowers!” 😂Every preference was valid, and I loved making their floral dreams come to life in a way that felt just right for each of them.

For the ceremony, I designed a lush n’ funky deconstructed arch, focusing on shades of green to easily complement every couple’s unique floral choices. The greenery provided the perfect backdrop for the bouquets and boutonnieres to pop! Plus, I added in some disco balls, because when it’s a big, beautiful q***r wedding, you can’t not bring the disco. 😉

Finally, if you know anything about me, you know I had to go all out on an installation over the dance floor. These rainbow floral clouds floated above the dance floor while our couples danced the night away and our amazing community celebrated q***r love. 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

While I did all the planning and mathematics, this dream would have not been able to happen without incredible florists donating their time and energy to make it happen. Thank you so much to my incredible team that week: (who designed that insane floral lapel!), , , , , ❤️

This event was seriously so special, and it’s hard to find the words to describe how much the q***r + trans joy I felt that night made an impact as we move through this incredibly difficult time period. I hung onto the feeling of that overwhelming joy like a buoy these past couple of weeks. 🥹

Thank you to the couples who trusted me with your flowers, and a whole list of incredible people that made this event happen! I guess I took too much space to ramble, so I will tag everyone in the comments 😘

F&C were such a dream to work with last year! Their wedding was a perfect mix of collaboration and trust—my favorite combo as a floral designer. 🥰 C handcrafted ceramic bowls that we used as centerpiece dishes (which later became guest favors!), and F painted each table number with watercolor illustrations of their favorite places. Every detail felt so deeply personal, and I love nothing more than helping couples create a floralscape that feels like them.

I say it all the time—I love working with flowers, but working with clients is my *favorite thing*. Getting to know you, your story, and your vision is truly the best part of my job.

I’ll be opening my books for 2026 weddings in just a few weeks, and I still have limited availability for 2025 (in July, Nov, and Dec!). If you’re dreaming up something colorful, meaningful, and even a little bit out there, let’s chat!

Hey hey, I’m Julian! 👋🏻

If we haven’t met yet, welcome! I’m the person behind the blooms here at Althea Floral Design. I’m all about bold, colorful florals, designed to feel just as unique as the people I create them for. Here’s a little more about me:
✨ I get a little laser focused on new interests, and love to learn new things! Some current and past hobbies include yoga, roller skating, cooking, photography, rowing, dancing, hooping, cake decorating, and crocheting. I am a novice at many many things, but that works great for me.

✨ My favorite thing about owning a floral business is being able to use both my analytical and creative sides of my brain. I love a well thought out spreadsheet almostttt as much as I love creating art. I think this is why I love installations so much! It takes so much number crunching and planning to pull off larger-than-life floral designs.

✨ I am obsessed with color! It’s very rare for me to take on an all-white wedding. I didn’t own any black clothes until a couple years ago, and I was teased in high-school because I was such a colorful outlier within my goth friends. 🌈 If you want maximalist, colorful floral design, I’m your guy.

At Althea, I believe flowers should be more than decoration—they’re art that expresses who you are, enchants your guests, and creates a whole *vibe*. Whether it’s for a wedding, an installation, or something totally out of the box, my goal is to make something that feels like ✨you✨

MEET THE NEW ALTHEA ✨ I cannot believe Althea turns TWO today! And in celebration, I’m ECSTATIC to reveal Althea’s new brand. Same colorful, funky florals you expect, but with a new logo, brand suite, and website to match. 🎂

I am all about showing up authentically, and I was ready for my brand to feel like *me* (more masculine and maximalist, but still warm and inviting as ever). My brand designer (and new friend!) .creative truly captured what I was trying to express to the world, and I KNOW my new brand will help future clients instantly feel seen and inspired as they search for a perfect florist.

This rebrand celebrates everything Althea stands for: bold imagination, inclusive joy, and florals designed to make you *feel*. Here’s to stepping boldly into year 3! 🎉

Ahh I love when I look through wedding albums and you can just see how happy and in-love the couple is! 🥹

S&R were obviously having an absolutely blast together the day of their wedding, and both of them are practically glowing in these photos. It was so fun creating personal flowers that captured their joy and love of a good time. Don’t miss those disco ball pomanders as the attendant bouquets! 🪩✨

In my design questionnaire I ask clients “are you open to fruit or vegetables in your designs?”, and this is what I mean by that! Raspberry branches, pomegranate, and gourds make for fun interesting shapes along with the flowers. Also, I’m definitely in my sculpture era 🙃

Want to know Althea’s origin story? Two years ago today I designed my own wedding flowers. Some people thought I was bonkers to even attempt such a thing, but I’m nothing if not a planner. I had loved floral design for a long time, but earlier that year I took the professional florist course offered by in preparation for the undertaking.

Leading up to the wedding, I spent MANY many hours creating recipes, doing research on flowers, and generally thinking about floral design for most of the day for a month straight. And when the week came, I did it all, somehow kept my cool, and truly felt like there was nothing more magical than designing flowers for a wedding.

Fast forward to just a few days later, I woke up one morning, the day of an interview for another corporate marketing job, and it hit me all at once that a desk job was not what I wanted for my future — it was *flowers*.

Another thing to know about me? I make and execute decisions lighting fast. Within the week I had pulled out of all my interview pipelines and applied to flower shops to start my new career. A few months later after that, while doing retail floral design, I launched Althea, starting the wedding and events business I had been dreaming about. ✨

I could have never made it here without the never-ending support of my spouse , who with every wedding tells me it’s my “best work yet” and has never stopped believing in me for even a second. (Happy anniversary babe 💕)
