Caution, long post ahead ⚠️ but I figured it was time to do a little intro for those of you who don’t know me ✨
My name is Madeline Cargill, and I am the owner of Silver City Flowers 🌿
My love for floral design started when I took a floral class in high school as an elective. I had always been a very creative and crafty person, so I loved the class, and I had a really awesome teacher! After high school, I attended Texas A&M University in College Station 🗣 {WHOOP!} 👍🏻
As a freshman, I had no idea what I really wanted to major in, and ended up in BIMS. After a semester, I felt like it just wasn’t for me, and again was lost and didn’t really know what I wanted to do. While talking to my mom about it, she asked me, “What is something you really enjoy doing?” My first thought was..flowers.🥀 So, after doing some research, I found that A&M had a Horticulture major, which offered several emphasis options, including Event Planning & Floral Design. I switched majors right away, and never looked back! Not only did I take classes focused on events and floral, but I also took a few that were more geared toward the science behind plants and gardening, which I discovered I really loved as well.
I graduated in August of 2017 with a BA in Horticulture, emphasis in Event Planning & Floral Design, a minor in Business Administration, and I also earned the Professional Event Planner’s Certificate through the RPTS Department. 👩🎓
I had booked a few small weddings and events from family and friends while in college, but after graduation I decided to really start promoting myself and growing my business. It started out as a side-hustle while I worked full time jobs, and has now grown into almost a full time job in itself, and I couldn’t be more thankful!
I’m sorry, I know it’s been a long read, but I hope sharing my story will reach someone else out there that may be stuck in a rut or lost and not sure what they want to do, and inspire them to take that leap and try doing something that they truly love! 💕
I couldn’t have done any of it without the love and support from my husband, my family, friends, and awesome community! For that, I thank each and every one of you for being my cheerleaders 📣
Finally, I would like to make a special shout-out to one of my dearest friends, Ashley Fuchs for always being down to run around the back pasture dodging cows to take these AMAZING photos of me with my creations! ✨
Thanks for reading! 🤍
