These bulbs have been lost under my blue Salvia for years now...what they needed was to literally have the Sun shine on them, plus a little feed & water. Look at them now!!

Second round of seedlings coming up!
These are darlings coming up in the Summer Sun. They will one day be strong defenders against the dearth that hits the each Summer, making it harder on the local pollinators ❤️
Dearth is a beekeeper's term for lack of nectar and pollen. It happens every year, causing hunger in the hives. Hopefully these will survive, coming back stronger next year!

Gotta Love a Volunteer ❤️❤️❤️
This beauty is a volunteer Salvia that popped up months ago. There were two that got dug up, potted up & loved up until they were re- planted with love ( & organic fertilizer). Some weeks later, and a few heat waves to beat- they are thriving & growing ever so slowly.
Gotta Love a Volunteer - and I know many here on the mountain & in the Valley who give back so freely each week ( or DAY!).

Hello Summertime blooms!
Our garden really has begged for a pruning back these past couple weeks. It's not glamorous, yet necessary to keep some semblance of order:)
Now is the time for cleaning, pruning, feeding & watering. It's happening daily ❤️

Good morning beautiful friend 💛
Just in time to help feed the bees during the Summer dearth, the Nicotania found her bloom. This lucky bee found blooms close to her hive all from one seed! An oasis of nectar & pollen for all the to enjoy.
Last year they bloomed several months, despite the heat with just a small sprinkling of daily water.

Honey Harvest- honey proud. 🐝 ❤️ 🐝

As a 4 th year honey is a novelty. My hives are now large enough to make more than they need for this Winter. That's the honey I can take for human consumption. The first two years of were not honey years.. People would ask me & it was completely out of reach, even in my imagination ❤️
Hanging in there, learning & trying new things to help my bees thrive has made a big difference. Now my concerns are making time to harvest the honey & bottle it up.
Still learning & I am truly to be a 4th year Beekeeper! Life is very full indeed 💖

Sweet heart relief- fog in the distance is such a Welcome Sight!
Our heat wave was extreme &:kept us all drinking water beyond measure. Even the bees kept it up, as the temperatures evaporated water several times each day.
Grateful for the fog & hope it brings relief to everyone, the animals & the bees!

Flash Friday Passion Flower 🐝
Every year it's the same attraction between the bees & !
Good thing the bloom keeps coming for several weeks. This vine goes a little dormant during the Winter & appears less than..and each Summer it blooms prolifically
The perfect screen for horse dust & privacy! Horses love to nibble too, so it's a great boredom breaker for your equine friends:)

This sweet vine is an absolute stunner in our garden; she grows up & over most everything if allowed to do so...
Driving around you will see her growing wild up concrete barriers, over back fences with abandon!

These are first year vervain on pink Salvia all propagated earlier when the weather was cool. Vervain is an interesting plant & hugely popular with !

One of the best butterfly plants we grow- vervain is a quiet hero to pollinators- butterflies love them, as do hummingbirds & 🐝❤️🐝!

Adding these to your garden is easy. They grow from seed, cuttings & self seed too:)
Bunnies love to munch on them all Winter, so I often add a low cage to protect the plant & give it a chance at success!

Possibly the easiest swarm capture for me:) It figures that the one large hive I forgot to split would decide to "bon voyage" this morning 🌄. Following the sound of bees, I was able to scramble a new hive set up under the mother hive. After scooping up glove fulls of bees I think I may have found the queen. She is small & not super remarkable today, not a judgement actually, more a notation of her age.
