John K***r purchased the studio in 2011 and spent 4 years renovating the home and studio to its former glory. At its' peak, Pachyderm was home to bands such as Nirvana, Soul Asylum, Jayhawks, Trampled by Turtles, and many many more. Extensive rennovations have been completed to the studio and grounds. John passed away in 2015, just before the big unveiling of all of his hard work of this studio. John's family now owns and operates the studio with help from John's longtime friend Nick Tveitbakk, who is the Studio Manager.

This is a sad day. The industry has lost a legend. Steve Albini showed us how to make good music with integrity, in the most punk way ever. Some of the biggest records done at Pachyderm were produced by Steve: In Utero, Rid of Me. His death leaves a big hole in the music industry. We will keep his spirit going the best we can. Tell the ones you love how much you love them. And keep being punk.

After Pachyderm reopened in 2015, our first major project was with , for their album Wild Animals. Since then, TBT has recorded several other albums at Pachyderm. Like a tree sprouting roots, several major projects have come our way as a result of that first recording back in 2015, inspired by TBT’s albums or sent to us via band members. We are so grateful for all of our clients and today, especially grateful for Trampled, one of our longest and most loyal.

Making a record is always a vulnerable and emotional process. The bonds formed in the process can be very deep. And those bonds strengthen the root system of Pachyderm’s creative family tree. Thank you to everyone who has come over the years, becoming part of our family. We’re looking forward to many more years of growth.

A belated Thanksgiving post to share our gratitude for all the bands, producers, and clients who've brought their creativity and passion to our studio this year. Some amazing music has been made and as always we had a great time supporting its production. And just as important: a big thanks to all of you, our supporters and followers, for traveling with us on this journey. Please keep engaging!
