This is our last week of the season!
The PYO field is still open!
Have you walked the Tale Trail yet? "Fly, Butterfly," the story of the monarch butterfly, starts behind our house and passes through the meadow.
The trails and labyrinth walks are lovely in amongst the trees changing color.
We're open through Sunday, 9-6.
The pavilion is reserved Saturday from 2-5 for a private party. Trails and PYO will be open during this time.
What a beautiful weekend in store. Bouquets are available, and Pick-Your-Own is open.
We welcomed around 200 adults and children over our 4 Monarch Festival events. Thanks to all who attended and shared in the excitement of the annual monarch migration!
Many monarchs were tagged and released by Amira Kel Provost, the @themonarchmatriarch. So many kids had the magical experience of holding and releasing them.
The monarchs continue to need our help by planting their host plant, milkweed, and fall blooming nectar plants like goldenrod, asters, ironweed, and liatris. We have Swamp Milkweed, Asclepias incarnata, available for free on our Farm Stand porch.
This dresser was in the back of a truck, getting ready to be tossed at the dump! What a perfect upgrade to our dress up area. I found the mirror at the Treasure House, too.

LEAVE THE LEAVES πππ
Many BENEFICIAL INSECTS need leaf litter to hibernate over the winter. ππ¦ππ·
This seasonal reminder for leaving leaves where they fall comes with some exceptions.
As you can see, I raked the leaves on my driveway so they don't clog up my snowblower this winter. But do they have to get bagged up and tossed? Those bags could be filled with caterpillars that will be next summers moth and butterflies. You'll want them around so they can lay eggs to create the caterpillars that will be food for the song birds' chicks.
The queen bumble bees will winter over in the leaf litter. We need her and her offspring to pollinate our gardens next summer.
If you want to see fireflies and Luna moths, they are dependent on leaf litter, too.
Instead of sending your leaves to the dump, find a place along the edge of your property and rake them into that area. If you can't move them all in, leave at least some.
Leave them under trees like maples and oaks. Caterpillars that drop from these trees are looking for leaves to crawl into for winter. The leaves act as a natural mulch, weed suppressant, and provide nutrients to the soil. Win-Win-Win-Win!!
Save yourself hours of raking and know that you are providing habitat for next summers bees, birds, butterflies, and more! π¦πͺ°ππ¦ππ¦
