Mississippi Grass Roots Slalom got race three and four Fall/Winter Series in once the winter weather settled down. We moved location to the infamous Road Kill Hill. This hill has been the location of many Sunday practice sessions dating back to 2005. It was also the location of Luna Slalom Jam 2023. The surface has lost its luster but it still offers up enough speed and near zero traffic to make it a really nice spot.
Race three was great and we saw some mixing up of performance when we added some speed to the mix. Check out the times compared to race two. Chris Larson turned up the flame to beat Luke “Lazer” Johns. Some old guy showed the young guns he likes the speed of Road Kill. Jeff Jeffries turned it on also. He was in the best form we’ve seen from him thus far. He’s got more in the tank for sure.
Race four was a day like we haven’t seen in quite some time. High 70 degrees but the racers didn’t turn out. We all have busy lives and we get it for sure. Chris Larson did it again. He bested the old guy by .2 for the day. Great skating Chris. I believe he’s ready for the Sizzler.
The points race is tight. This makes things a bit more exciting and adds so much to the series. Thanks for checking us out. Be on the look out for a Luna Slalom Jam Event Page in the next couple of days. Brandon Main Street Association is hosting us once again and it promises to be everything 2024 was and more.

The weather is right so we’re holding race number four of our six race series. I feeling it’s time for a little speed so a mellow flowy giant slalom will be the order of the day.
Look for results from todays race as well as race three which had a couple of surprise finishes in the classifications as well as overall times.

Looks like we’re to get race three in today on Road Kill Hill at 1:30.

I’ll be handing out Certificates of Achievement to all the first place finishers in the first two races. It’s just something to hold onto and to help keep count on first place finishes in looking forward to advancing to the next level.

I'm finally getting some results in for the second race of the Fall/Winter race series which was held on December 15th.
It was another good yet windy day at Germantown High School. We met our one of our goals again at this race. The goal being to bring new racers to the sport of Slalom Skateboarding. Our new racer was none other that Mallary Smith. A twenty year old longboarder with a great surf style. Thanks for coming out Mallary!
Our third installment will be help tomorrow January 5th at 1:30. Due to the winds we have been dealing with at GHS we are switching things up. We will be racing at our old spot Road Kill Hill. This should make for some exciting racing with the addition of a little more speed that the GHS hill offered. I think we'll see some results mixing up a bit so stay tuned.
See the spreadsheet for race two below.

We are hoping for the weather to hold out for our third race in the six race series. 6% chance of the R word but that’s normal for this time of year.
I owe everyone details on the second race. I’ll get that done in the next day or two leading in to the race weekend.
MSGRS is scouting a new spot where wind will be at our backs. That should be a clue as to how the conditions were on the hill for race two. Stay tuned!
