Tate High School, formerly known as Roberts High School, was founded in 1878 by Professor James Madison Tate. Professor Tate fought in the Civil War on the side of the confederates and later became a Methodist minister and a prominent lawyer. The James Madison Tate Agricultural School was completed in 1917 and the school mascots have since been referred to as Aggies. Since there was no football eq
