The Texas Panhandle has had a rough day. While it may have looked like a tornado, we actually experienced sustained winds of 70-80 mph, with gusts reportedly reaching up to 98 mph. Officials are calling it a land hurricane. The damage has been intenseāsemis overturned, roofs ripped off, power lines down, and fires sparking across the Panhandle. Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone affected, especially the brave first responders working tirelessly in these dangerous conditions.
A Prayer for Our Firefighters and Linemen
Heavenly Father,
As fierce winds sweep across the Texas Panhandle, we lift up our firefighters and linemen to You. These brave men and women stand in the gap, risking their lives to safeguard our homes, land, and communities. Lord, we ask for Your divine protection over them.
Strengthen their bodies as they battle exhaustion. Steady their hands as they work against the relentless wind. Grant them wisdom and clarity to make quick, life-saving decisions. Keep their equipment running smoothly, their trucks operating without fail, and their tools functioning as needed. Surround them with Your presence, shielding them from harm.
We pray that You calm the winds, bring much-needed moisture to the dry land, and hold back the flames. Comfort the families anxiously awaiting their loved onesā safe return. May these firefighters and linemen feel Your guidance and protection in every step they take.
In Jesusā name, we pray, Amen.
Please stay inside unless absolutely necessary. Conditions are extremely dangerous, with zero visibility, wrecks, overturned semis leaking fuel, blocked roads, and widespread power outages. We are used to wind here in the Panhandle, but 80-90 mph gusts are not just crazyātheyāre dangerous.
Praying a hedge of protection over the Texas Panhandle and surrounding areas. Stay aware, be prepared, and thank you to all the first responders, firefighters, and linemen risking their lives to keep us safe.
Stay safe, everyone.
