This showed up in my Facebook memories from about about 10 years ago. While loading up an ice sculpture today in my garage a little boy about 7 or 8 walked up the driveway. He held up a white envelope that said American Cancer Society hand written in pencil. I looked out front and seen his Mom standing in the street with tears running down her face. Little boy started his story and said Sir my daddy died of cancer a couple weeks ago and Im trying to raise some money to give to the cancer society because they really tried to help my dad. The look on his face was so sincere, innocent, and pure. My heart fell to my toes. I waved to his mom to come up by the garage. Without me saying anything to her she apologized and said I'm sorry he insisted on doing this for his dad. I told her no need to apologize, you've raised a good boy. Found out they lived down the street and told the boy he could come by and watch me carve anytime and that I'd be his buddy if he needed one. I showed him a couple sculptures I had just finished and fought back the tears. I made it worth his wild for having the courage to walk up my driveway. As I watched him and his mother walk away he got to the end of my driveway, he turned around and waved and said thank you buddy. Im still tore up.
