The Cat

The Cat In 2009, after a 30-year hiatus, Will Wood reentered the world of theatre.

The vision of The Cat is to be the "Off-Off-Broadway" of Carmel Indiana, giving the artists of Carmel a local, welcoming, and affordable place to play; and giving audiences an affordable place to be entertained. Since then, he has assistant directed, directed, or produced nearly 20 theatrical productions in Central Indiana. Late in 2016, Will found himself with a chance to direct a little Cole Por

ter musical (You Never Know—that's ok, nobody else has heard of it either!). Although without a theatre company attached to the production, rehearsal and performance space wasn’t available (not at an affordable price, anyway). In the pursuit of finding a home for this production, Will Wood and his wife and business partner, Deborah Wood, found the perfect space: a 60-year-old building on the South end of Carmel’s Arts & Design District. With this space, they realized that there was much more to offer than just a home for Will’s next production. By signing the lease, Will would have the opportunity to fulfill a life-long dream of operating his own community theatre. The new theatrical venue, The Cat, offers residency for theatre companies and is available for artistic events, classes, recitals, and private gatherings. The Cat aspires to be the “Off-Off-Broadway” of Carmel, Indiana - enriching the Carmel Arts and Design District by giving local artists a welcoming, affordable place to play, create, and perform.

Shanon Clancy (Cindy Lou Who)
This is Shannon’s second musical at The Cat after her premiere in 2020’s Descendants. Shannon has been doing theatre since she was 7 years old. It’s what truly makes her happy and is her ultimate goal. Shannon has been involved with many theatre groups, such as CYT (Christian Youth Theatre) throughout her entire teen years. Her favorite roles include Aunt Em in the Wizard of Oz and the Enchantress in Beauty and the Beast. Her most recent favorite roles include Lucy in Dracula at Westfield Playhouse, Ruth Nowak in Miracle on South Division Street at Epilogue Players, James Minor (Apostle) in Jesus Christ Superstar at Mudcreek Players, and Esmeralda in Grotesque of Notre Dame with 4th Wall Players. Shannon loves being a part of theater so much because of the togetherness that comes from being part of a whole company. She loves all the friends she makes in every show and loves making new ones too. Shannon is not only super excited to perform this fun and beloved story for people, but she also loves being a part of this welcoming and open environment that she looks forward to working with again soon.

✨ What’s the craziest thing YOU think Thing 1 and Thing 2 would do? Tell us below! 👇

Pepper Owens (Thing 1)
Pepper Owens plays Thing 1 and this is her very first musical! She would like to thank The Cat for giving her the opportunity to learn about theater and grow as a performer. She has a background in cheerleading and loves to tumble! She would also like to thank her family and of course her beautiful, talented, amazing older sister Ella Owens who made sure she was prepared and on time at rehearsal. Thank you!

Felicia Walker (Thing 2)
Felicia is a mom to two children, an 8-year-old son and a 12-year-old daughter. She loves being with her family the most and loves being outdoors. Steak is her favorite food and she loves all animals. The decision to be a part of this show is because of her daughter that begged her to do it. So here she is!

Do yourself a favor—get out of the cold, grab your friends, and come see me work my Seuss-tacular magic. 🎩 I promise laughter, music, and maybe a little harmless chaos (okay, maybe a lot).

✨ He may be grumpy, but even the Grinch can’t resist the magic of this holiday season. Will his heart grow three sizes on The Cat’s stage? You’ll have to see it to believe it!

💚 Comment below with your favorite Grinch quote!

Marissa Hassie (The Grinch/Vlad Vladikoff)
Marissa is usually backstage playing with props, so to stand in the spotlight is kind of a lot! The last time she acted on stage was in high school - 20 years ago now, which feels totally uncool. She writes music, plays games, and sure loves to sing. Getting back into theatre has been such a fun thing! She thanks her husband for being such a good dad, to 4 of their 5 children, while she was playing Vlad!

Jennifer Wolfe (Who Ensemble)
The awesomeness of Seussical pulled Jen out of “retirement” after having taken a 30+ year hiatus from the stage. She last appeared in her high school shows in Central Illinois. She is thrilled to perform next to her daughter, Kimmy (a.k.a. Kimmy-Kat). To quote the Dr.: "You’ve got to be odd to be number one." This show is #1. She is so excited to be a part of it!! Enjoy!

Kimberly Wolfe (Who Ensemble)
Kimmy is a junior in high school. She's done a lot of things (show choir, wrestling, hockey, ice cream scooping, triathlons, mountain biking, country swing dancing, sailing, rowing, reading, kayaking, river rafting, dog walking, cat sitting, downhill skiing, cake & cookie baking, pottery, caving, drawing, painting and jewelry making), but being a Who isn’t one of them—until NOW!! She's grateful that Audrey is willing to work with her hectic schedule and helped her be a part of this fantastically wonderful show! Thanks to her parents for all the things that they do helping her get to the all the places she'll go!

Sam Walker (Who Ensemble)
Samantha is a dedicated healthcare leader and lifelong advocate for seniors, who now brings her talents and passion for service to the world of theater. With a background in nursing and a commitment to community engagement, Sam is thrilled to support creative storytelling that inspires and connects people. Her journey into theater highlights her belief in the transformative power of art, much like her work in healthcare has focused on transforming lives. Sam is excited to be part of this production and hopes to bring the same level of care, attention, and compassion that she has brought to her career in healthcare.

Kolbie Schnelker (Who Ensemble)
Kolbie is a talented 7th grader with a passion for the arts. She loves drawing, dancing, fashion design, and musical theater. Kolbie brings her creativity and enthusiasm to every project she undertakes. She has taken public speaking and etiquette classes and performed in plays at the International Talent Academy.
