earlier this week we visited the Santa Lucia Highlands to finalize details for our upcoming wine dinner and learn from the highly knowledgeable Mark Pisoni.
These vineyards were the first planted in the area which is now its very own AVA. The unique soil here, once thought useless for growing, is a huge part of their success, says Mark. The cool mornings and nights and abundant fog paired with gentle sun is also extremely helpful. The Pisoni family are great stewards of this land and are certified for sustainability.
