Brooke
Hello there! Recently, I planned a photo shoot at the beautiful Prairie Guest House to showcase the new wedding & event planning division, savoir faire events. It was my first experience coordinating a shoot, and I have to say I really enjoyed the entire process, from coming up with the design plan to the ex*****on.
..And, while the experience was enjoyable, it was also very time consuming - in fact, the shoot (even though it was at a much smaller scale), like a wedding, took a lot of forethought and ex*****on. And, like a wedding, this was special to me, and it was therefore important the pictures convey the right feel and message. I wanted to work with a professional photographer who could help me bring everything to life.
I was fortunate to collaborate with the talented and super friendly team of Steven Van Elk and Jennifer Van Elk of Jennifer Van Elk Photography. I met Jenn at an industry event last year and liked her from the start -- and, after meeting her, I quickly realized that I admired her work just as much as I admired her as a person. I encourage you to visit Jenn's website to learn more (jennifervanelk.com).
Jenn's work and that of other highly talented professional photographers proves to me again and again that photography is a very important component of any wedding. For those soon-to-be brides & grooms, I encourage you to keep this in mind as you prepare for your big day: You could have the most beautiful wedding anyone has ever seen, but if the pictures do not it justice, you may be left with sub-par photos and feelings of disappointment.
Hiring a professional photographer should be top of mind when planning an affair as personal and significant as the day you declare "I do." Years later as you thumb through your wedding album, you will be thanking yourself for doing so. Having beautiful pictures at your fingertips will allow you to relive your wedding whenever you please!
Thank you to Steve & Jenn Van Elk for your time and your beautiful photos. Thank you to John Newton & Karen Newton of the Prairie Guest House for allowing me to use your lovely property (... if you have never been to PGH before, I encourage you to stop by sometime. You will love this charming b&b!). Thank you to Catherine Simmons of cs accoutrements for providing the beautiful flower arrangements (csaccoutrements.com). Finally, thank you to Violet Vintage for the amazing farm table.
