Opened on December 1949, the Plaza Theater originally served residents of the community within an approximate ten mile radius. Designed by architect Raymond F. Smith in a style known as brick modern, the theater boasted an original signage and marquee with neon lighting which are still used today. With more than forty-five years of continuous use, the Plaza Theater remains a survivor of the golden age of motion pictures. Here is an image of the first Plaza Theater, but be sure to take a drive to Downtown Carrollton to see the building now.
